I just want to make sure i'm gettng the right cream, now tesco or safeway do a double cream and an extra thick cream, are they what a heavy cream is?? or is heavy in relation to clotted cream.?
I grew up in the states... their heavy cream is about the same as double cream.
I use either double or whipping cream depending on what I put it in. Whipping cream is nice for tea-- a bit more like milk and not as easy to overbeat if you like it whipped. Double cream is good for almost everything else.
all
thanx Corvidae
sometimes the terms used can be some what confusing.
I dont believe it there has just been an advert on tv for splenda, is someone up there listening ,or what haha.
If you look at the stickiesy at the top of the UK forum there is one on language differences which tries to help out where there are some less common words.
There has been quite a lot of debate on the double cream/heavy cream in other posts in this forum. You could always do a search as you will often find someone has already asked the question. That does not mean you are wrong to ask, just there is often a simple answer here already.
With regard to Splenda it is on sale in many supermarkets now. Do a search on Splenda on the UK forum as there was a lot of debate when this first appeared in our shops earlier this year.
I've noticed all the best low carb cookbooks are in American measures too... after being in the UK and learning everything over again now I find I need to forget some of it from time to time. If you need anymore advice just drop me a note.
