Question Pork Rinds

Hello!

I looked up pork rinds on the hidden carb finder - 1st as a pork product - then as a snack. Really different carb contents between these two. Which is correct?

Thanks for your help again!!!

Can you break down the specific calories/carbs/fat/protein per serving and list them here? I believe also different Pork Rind products give different results.. i myself don't know for sure..i don't eat pork products.

Default Pork Rind Carb Count

Hi

Here are the counts from the product I am looking at:

Calories: 80
Total Fat: 5g
Carb: 0
Protein: 8

When entering this info in the hidden carb finder as a "pork product" vs "snack" it calculates quite different conclusions.

Thanks!

ok

fat calories = 5*9=45
protein calories = 8*4=32

45+32= 77calories..

the label says 80cals (they round it to the nearest #)
so it's accurate.. no carbs in here

Thumbs up Microwave Pork Rinds

Found at local Walmart and Sam's Club. Comes in bag like popcorn. Pops up like popcorn. Called Lowrey's Bacon Curls.

Great for dips.

Wow, now that sounds interesting. What do they smell like while popping? Hopefully not popcorn!

Default Microwave Pork Rinds

Tried these twice, as I wanted to make sure my first impression wasn't the wrong one. Sorry, to be negative on this one. The microwave popcorn that I found in Canada cost 6.99 for one pkg. That would be the size equivalent to a pkg. of microwave popcorn. Way overpriced.

I'd give it about a 5 out of 10. For 7.00 I could think of many other lowcarb foods I'd rather enjoy. I found some of the pieces didn't totally pop or popped so hard you couldn't eat them.

Like everything else though, everyone has their own opinion, and you may just like these!

The nutritional info for a serving size of 14g is:
Calories 80
Total Fat 5g
Cholesterol 15mg
Sodium 230mg
Total Carbohydrates 0g
Protein 8g

This is for unflavored pork rinds only, made from (check the Ingredients List) pork rinds (skin), lard and salt. Nothing else.

Pig skins are also called Pork Rinds. They are keep fried pig skin - sounds gross but they are actually pretty good. I like the BBQ flavour. They are also used in a lot of LC recipes (check out the recipe forum) as filler and as breading - you can make great fried chicken with pork rinds!

Question BBQ Pork Rinds ?

Hi all.

Just a simple question (I think). O.k. since we can have the regular pork rinds how about the BBQ? Now in the BBQ seasoning there is sugar, but is it enough to be illegal? Please tell me what I want to hear

Go ahead and eat them. Just remember to count the carbs and don't overindulge.

Every packet of pork rinds has a nutrition box on it. The packets that have flavours tell you how much a portion is, how many carbs per portion and what constitutes those carbs (usuall sugar).

Just a matter of reading the labels.

HI Homegirl. The only pork rinds I have found in Victoria are the Old Dutch, and I had to e-mail the compnay to find the nutritional info as it wasn't on the package. Is there somewhere else you can get pork rinds here?? I would probably love the BBQ ones, but have never found them!
Thanks.

Glenda
