Hi! This is the first time that I have posted anything anywhere! I was looking around the internet in hope of finding some low carb soup recipes and fell into this forum. What a wonderful source of support and information. (I was so pleased to read about the cauliflower - rice tip!)

I have been off carbs for 11 days now - and not by choice I am afraid. I was tested for diabetes and was determined to be glucose intolerant, thereby making this way of eating not an option. My health is more important than tortillas and bread (right?)

Always looking for the brighter side to things -- I am noticing that I am indeed losing weight and seem to have more energy than before. My finace is changing his eating style to help me and is also looking better already too. I look forward to reading more tips, recipes and information! Any other "new glucose intolerants"? -- DM

Hi DawnMarie,

Welcome to this board. They are a good bunch here so stick around.

I am not glucose intolerant but truly happy to be eating this way. New energy, feeling wonderful, and losing weight...who can ask for anything more.

That is wonderful your man too is eating this way, not only for support for you but for him to also feel great and look great! Best of luck and keep on posting!

Wendy

Ps. Yeah, that califlower for rice is a sure thing!

Smile Hi, DawnMarie!!!!

Welcome to the board! I was also a "posting virgin" until I ran into this Web site. It's wonderful, isn't it? Great folks and lots of great ideas and support. I'm certainly enjoying being part of this online community.

I'm not glucose-intolerant, but, judging by the rest of my family, I WILL be if I don't eat low-carb. My sister and mother are both diabetic, and my maternal grandfather died of it (30 years ago, when treatment was a lot more primitive than it is now). I was watching myself gain weight like my mother did when she was my age, and thinking: "uh-uh, not me." So I'm definitely low-carbing for health, as well as aiming for a lovely svelte me!

who is a slow loser and will probably be an old lady before she's skinny, but hey, she'll be a ROCKIN old lady!!
