Thanks for setting up the new thread, Lois.

I'm back to my normal routine after 4 days of enjoying our daughter's visit and son and daughter-in-laws return from the British Isles. Too many restaurant meals plus a big dinner here one night. From Thursday to Sunday I ate fried polenta, artisan pizzas, burgers, fries, wine, cake & gelato (in addition to some healthy stuff). I don't feel a twinge of guilt, however, and surprisingly I did not gain! Back to normal today. Gym this afternoon and garden work this AM.

I'll check back later to hear of your flying adventures, Lois.

Good morning!!

Sherri, Ella Mae is just adorable!

Janj, I did not walk the straight and narrow this weekend either....hard to do most days but especially when you are away or with company. Ron's last day of vacation is today and then "Bam!!", I'll be kicking my butt back into shape!

As for flying, I have a problem with my ears. Unlike most people I have never been able to pop them manually. The takeoffs made me dizzy till we got up to altitude and held it for a few minutes and they popped on their own. Landing was better but still had a bit of dizziness. Even once on the ground it took a few minutes for them to pop so my own voice didn't sound like my head was in a bucket.

I've tried pretty much every suggestion over the years to force them to pop, as it is a problem when I swim under water as well, but with little success. It isn't something that would keep me from flying again however.

The wedding was held in a park in Calgary in a old ranch house that has been converted to a high end restaurant with a lovely yard. It was a small (< 100) wedding with a very "garden party" feel to it. The bride's family are Quebec French so the meal was very lavish and spread out over several hours with a few speeches and lots of wine. It was an absolutely lovely ceremony and suited the bride to a "T". We hadn't met the groom before but he is a very nice young man. They are off to France in about a month for three weeks honeymoon.

Not much else to report. We'll be off to the golf course shortly and then not sure what we might do to fill in the day. Ron is not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.

Enjoy!

Good morning everyone.

Gone for a few weeks and see we are on a new thread.

Hope everyone is doing well. I had some time for introspection and feel much better.

No hope to catch up on what I missed but thought of you guys often and now ready to forge ahead.

Middle of August! What happened to the summer! Can't believe it is almost time for fall again. Seems like winter was just here!

Anyway, great to be back and Happy Monday!

Ouch on the ears, Lois! The wedding sounds lovely. Enjoy your golf game and we are here ready to support you in "kicking your butt back in shape", LOL.

BECKY! So glad you posted. Hope to see more of you.

I behaved today - actually wanted to -- when I eat off plan foods, they may taste yummy but they make me feel yucky.

It has been a real zoo here lately. Ken got bitten by a cat three clinics ago (3 months) and swelled up like a balloon. Went to the people clinic here in Boquete and took various antibiotics for 6 weeks, still infected...... I finally went with him and asked for a x-ray, thought maybe the cat broke off a tooth. No sign of anything in the x-ray, so decided to take him to our doctor in David. The Doc took one look and put him in the hospital where he spent a week on IV antibiotics after surgery to open up the heel of his hand. There was a large cyst in there, but no tooth that they could find. But they figure that his body encapsulated the tooth and dissolved it. The lab report came back and they had been giving him the wrong antibiotics for 7 weeks. One day on the right one and we came home. The skin around the wound was so degraded that he tore out a couple of the stitches.....how fun is that?

Good morning, everyone Oh, Becky that's an awful story, glad you finally got it taken care of. Cats! Hi Lois, Jan, Bambi and Sherri!

It's another busy week, off to the mainland this morning for my critique group. Thursday I'll be leaving again to visit a new museum on another island where my surface design group hopes to have a show. And somewhere in here I've got to get some work finished and show-ready. I've got 3 trips planned for September, so I've got to meet my October 1 deadline and get a couple new pieces photographed SOON. I spent most of the weekend puttering in my studio, ironing recently dyed fabric so I could put it on the shelf, and doing a minor re-org after a bit over a year in there. I'm still holding on to stuff I probably don't need, but I'm not quite ready to let go....(till I absolutely need the room). I will probably finish that up tomorrow.

The wedding was Saturday and it was funny, irreverant, but lovely just the same. The minister was a woman the bride had known since junior high, and she was anecdotal and funny. Since it was outside and pretty casual, there were mishaps: the recorded music mis-cued just as she was ready to walk down the hill to the garden, so the groom had to leave the front to find the right song; the flower boy (bride's 3 y o grandson) forgot to toss flowers as he walked with his dad (who gave away the bride) and brother down the "aisle" and dumped them all at the end; the bride forgot her bouquet; and the funniest was when a very loud and slow moving motorcycle slowly circled around the lot to see what the heck was going on there. A friend was just ready to read a bible passage and we all had to wait a very long minute for him to pass. Anyway, it was lovely and I think we are all glad it is over.

My black-eyed susans are now close to full bloom and I love them - they are not quite as thick as I'd hoped, but they are pretty darned good. Apparently they are biennials and these particular ones will not bloom again, but I'll be buying them again next year (and hoping these ones seed AND I recognize the seedlings and leave them).

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning!!

Becky that is just awful!! I'm hoping your hubby continues to heal with no further complications.

Liz, your itinerary makes "painting the living room" a walk in the park by comparison!! We've been to three different weddings in the past two years and each was a perfect reflection of the couple who were getting married. And lots of great memories with all of them.

Ron is back at work and I have weeding in my future today. The front flowerbed, under both sets of stairs and the driveway.....I hate weeding....<sigh>

Then I will be back to cleaning out closets and drawers. I think tonight we will clear most of the furniture out of the living room so I can start cleaning the carpets in the morning.

I am back on the wagon!! Holy hell I have a damn long way to get back to my ideal weight and it's going to be a real struggle. However, I am NOT going to continue to gain. I still remember how I felt at my highest weight and I refuse to EVER feel that way again. I've seen my life at 150 pounds and I liked it....time to reclaim myself esteem!!

Have a great day.....off to the weed patch.....

Good Morning all. Thanks for the trail of breadcrumbs Lois!

Sherri, that video was just too cute! Loved the ending.

I hang out here eavesdropping and getting inspiration to keep on.

A new specialist added to my "social life". Always hoping this will be the doctor to create miracles! All is not doom and gloom tho. I'm back at the warm water pool to walk for exercise.

Spend time with friends visiting and laughing. Thurs. going to Wisconsin Dells, a resort town, to spend time with my friend since first grade. Hubby will golf with her DH while we talk and laugh. She's one of those fun people who laughs over everything.

Liz, the wedding was sure interesting! When things go wrong it leaves memories we don't forget!

I hope you are all having the delightful weather we are having today.
