Default Digestive problems?

I have been diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency and as a result I have a lack of hydrochloric acid. This makes digesting protein difficult, especially in the summer months. I sometimes take HCL tablets, but I've read that can decrease the amount of HCL produced by the body. Does anyone else have a similar problem? Any tips?

Thanks,

Shelly

Default Digestive Enzymes May Be Your Friend

Hi Shelly,

I don't share your problem, but my wife does, on occasion. When that happens, she takes some digestive enzyme capsules (I think she gets them from swansonvitamins.com). These enzymes will likely support your lower levels of HCL.

Hope this helps.

I use a multi enzyme with HCL at most meals and have for years. I don't know if it decreases my natural HCL but after a few days of taking them I can go off and not hurt.
