Default honey as an irritant with candida?

My son is not low carbing for weight loss. As a matter of fact he is too thin. He reacts as a celiac person would to gluten, but sweets have not really been a problem until after he went on a general inflammation diet, with the candida no-nos included. Now, since he is back to eating only for celiac sensitivity, he had IBS symptoms yesterday after eating Bob's Red Mill gf oatmeal for breakfast but with honey rather than stevia or xylotol. What's the wisdom out there?

It could be the honey, but he could also be sensitive to the oats.
It would have to be an experiment for you to try one without the other, oats, no honey, or honey alone. I tended to always react to oats, almost all grains except rice. How does he do with rice?
Also will he eat quinoa or amaranth. You could try those with honey to see what's bothering his guts.

He has had oats successfully before, but I know that doesn't rule it out. We have some quinoa, so we will try that soon.

I found any sweetener besides stevia or xylitol would aggravate my candida. Honey, agave, maple syrup- they all make symptoms flare.

Another option is vegetable glycerine, but not everyone likes it.
Not too sweet at all. Have you checked into the "Blood Type Diet" by Peter D'Adamo? I really like his work and suggestions for food substitutions. I am a type O, and most of the foods he says to eat and avoid for my type are spot on!
