Default "birthday cake" frosting? splenda?

My son's first birthday is Wednesday (YEA!) We are having a party on Sunday. I am making him a "traditional" birthday cake. Just wondering if anyone had made frosting (like decorator's icing) with splenda? Did it work? I've found a couple recipes for cake, with very little flour, and splenda (and fruit in most)... but was going to try to make "icing" w/o the powdered sugar (yes, I know It will still have the fat in the butter/crisco...). I am not planning to eat much of this cake, but I do want one little piece. Anyway... just trying to be creative here.

well, if you buy the Splenda in the bag, it had the consitency of Powdered sugar, and the way you use it is just like sugar. Measure 1 cup of splenda for 1 cup of sugar. I say go ahead and try it.

I have no idea, sorry! I'd just do a few small bites of real cake and be done with it. I did that for my oldest two's bday party in April and it had no effect. I will now and then do it for things I really want to have.
