Default One more reason to join the Y

I used to swim when I was in the YMCA. I could swim from 6:30 to 7:30 in the morning. Its fun, warm and its exercise!
I like the sliding scale for payments. Its helped me so much!

Thanks for the great replies everyone !! I guess this is one of the best Christmas presents I could get ! It's funny that Lessara mentions the YMCA, cause the gym Im going to is one that I have had a membership in since '94... I paid like $800 and $11/mth ever since... I figgured why stop the membership since it was only $11 a month... Now Im really getting my money's worth out of the membership. Ive been there 7 days in a row and I can now go two lenghts of the pool without stopping to get air !!

My personal goal is to lose 75 lbs by July, 2002... so I gotta get cooking and that means I will only "cheat" a little on Christmas day (gotta have a small scoup of mashed potatoes...) but then it's back to the grind baby !!

Thanks for your motivating comments !! I sure need it !

Right on Craig, I know how you feel. It doesn't seem like we should lose weight eating like this, but it really does work. Keep it up, and we will see you when you meet your goal next year.

Yayyyyy, Craig! I'm so happy for you! I want to lose at least 55 lbs by mid-June, so I can relate to the desire to keep going - but don't get discouraged if the loss slows some; as long as we're losing, we're doing great! We don't have "Y" around here, and no indoor pools (rural Missouri, USA). My New Year "Resolution" is to step up the exercise at home (I have plenty of stuff I don't mind doing, just don't seem to find the time)

Shalom,
SH'ra

mdxgirl37 - I am on the Protein Power plan which is almost identical to the Atkins, except they allow about 30 gms of carb during induction and they are not big on the Ketosis testing.
Other than that, they are the same program as Atkins... from what I've read.

As for stepping on the scales.... I had to buy a special scale because I couldn't find one that could weigh me... other than take the occasional trip to the loading dock and use of the freight weigh scales.... which can be a little embarassing...... when you have to yell out " Hey Ernie !! Get that skid off the scales... Craig wants to weigh in again !!" ... not exactly a Hallmark moment !!

Take care and good luck... If there is one thing Im learning.. it's to be patient and STICK WITH IT !! Even if you inadventently cheat.... we most likely all will at some time or another... dont let it get you down. Just get back on the plan and keep going.. We're in this for the long term.

Craig

MDXgirl - I'm about 1 hour 15 minutes south of you. How's good ole Jeff City? I used to be there often, as growing up I lived in Jamestown, MO.

Shalom,
Sh'ra
