Default Cheat to Loose Diet by Joel Marion

Hi,

Is anyone following this diet? I am reading the book and wondering if it really works. Any information will be appreciated.

Thank you very much.

I am still reading the book. However, below is the information that I found on-line:

“Many times, author, fitness expert, and Body-for-Life champion Joel Marion found himself in a similar place. But through a series of classic diet “screwups,” Joel discovered a startling truth: cheating on your diet can actually accelerate fat loss.
Based on cutting-edge medical research, The Cheat to Lose Diet reveals the hormonal connection between strategic cheating and fat loss that will change the way you diet forever. Special features include:
An easy-to-follow three-phase program: Priming, Core, and Maintenance
A simple weekly plan in which more carbohydrates are deliberately added with each passing day, leading up to the “Cheat Day”.
The CTL Cardio Solution: a revolutionary eighteen-minute, fat-melting cardio workout that has been shown to burn up to nine times the fat of traditional cardio.
Tips for staying on track, including twelve weeks of daily menu plans and seventy-five recipes, so you’re never in doubt of the types of foods and meals to enjoy while following the plan.
On Cheat Days you’ll cheat BIG with all your favorite foods-chocolate chip cookies, pizza, ice cream–whatever you’d like and as much as you’d like of it. But never again will you feel guilty for indulging in the foods you love because you’ll learn and come to know that dietary cheating is absolutely vital to your fat-loss success."

“The Cheat to Lose Diet works with your body's hormones, metabolism, and cravings to help you lose weight naturally and easily. Diet and fitness expert Joel Marion discovered a startling truth — cheating on your diet can actually accelerate fat loss! Based on his research and experience helping hundreds of clients lose weight, he created a diet designed to control the hormone leptin, which is linked to your metabolism and triggers fat loss. One of the diet's main requirements? You must regularly cheat with all your favorite foods!"

“The Cheat to Lose Diet, focus on the idea that restricting calories results in the body running in “starvation mode,” the mode where the body believes it is receiving so few nutrients that it is actually starving. This is due to the fact that the hormone Leptin, which helps increase metabolism, begins to decrease as the body takes in fewer nutrients. What happens next is simple enough: the body begins storing all that extra energy in the form of extra fat, leaving the dieter with no way of eliminating that extra weight or getting rid of those last few pounds.

The Cheat to Lose Diet plan works to counteract this effect by preventing it from ever occurring. Marion’s premise is incredibly simple, and it may just be the greatest idea any dieter has ever heard: Cheat! That’s right, cheat on your diet—once a week, just dig into your favorite foods, regardless of what they may be. Ice cream, French fries, and even cakes are all fair game once each week. By adding these fatty and indulgent foods to your otherwise reasonable diet plan, you give your body the sensation that you are not on a diet and that you are not, in fact, starving. This boosts the level of Leptin, increasing the dieter’s metabolism throughout the rest of the week. The diet days are then controlled through the Glycemic Index, a system that takes into account how fast a food impacts insulin release. By controlling the foods consumed according to how they affect the body’s blood sugar balancing system, fewer cravings occur, and there are no more hills and valleys of energy—just steady and reliable energy throughout the day. Instead of focusing on calorie counting (a tedious and sometimes depressing task), Marion works towards a more scientific theory on food, taking into account not just how much is consumed but what kinds of foods are consumed. And for those of you who fear the loss of your favorite carbs, don’t be afraid—The Cheat to Lose Diet program is not a low-carb diet!”

Hope this helps.

I forgot to say that I think this diet is similar to "Crack the Fat Loss Code Diet". I made this conclusion based on my internet reading/research.

A member here, LynnDee, started this plan and lost about 50 pounds, after getting sick with Atkins. I will point her in the direction of this thread...I know she will be willing to give some advice!

My buddy Betsy gave me the link to this thread.

I love the diet! I was on Atkins for 3 months and have never been so sick in my entire life. Lost 9 pounds in those 3 months. Switched to Cheat to Lose diet and instantly felt much better physically. When I started on this diet I was 201 pounds at the end of April - reached my goal (actually a little below goal) before the end of November. So I lost 49 pounds in a little over 6 months and really enjoyed the diet. If you follow the diet, don't make changes, enjoy your cheat days so that you can have what you really crave then it works great.

Oh forgot to mention above that I am a type 2 diabetic, do not control it with pills or insulin - control it only through diet and exercise. This diet is great for keeping blood sugar levels on a very consistent level.

It might tie into carb cycling. That works for people.

Yeah that is what I was thinking too...but I don't understand why. How can eating junk help you lose.

You see it all the time, "I cheated and l lost weight!" It's definitely carb cycling. It does work for people, I wish I knew why.

I cannot cheat period. I tried carb cyling and it didn't work for me because I can't eat junk then control the cravings for more junk. I am an "addict" too-big time.

Thank you for your help LynnDee!

It is great that this diet works for you. I am on a low-carb diet and I lost some weight but it stopped working. In about 7 or 8 weeks I wasn't able to loose anything (pounds of inches). Three weeks ago, I needed a break and I cheated for two days and was surprised that I didn’t gain anything but even lost one pound. Then I came across the carb cycling concept and someone mentioned this book.
I plan to start this diet on Sunday, and I really hope that it will work for me. I like that after the first week I could eat fruits and berries. This diet sounds very good.

I will probably have some questions for you after I’ll start the diet.

Do you have any tips/suggestions?

Thank you.

Hey just ask if you need help with anything, be glad to help you. Sometimes I get really busy or overwelmed with stuff and don't post for a couple of days but I always see stuff left in my journal.

Biggest tip - don't make tweaks! Do it just as it is written, me and two of my other friends have been on this diet and it works great if you follow it.

If you have a problem with late night snacking or just being overly hungry at night (which did happen to me at the first) you can do one of two things - skip one of your snacks and eat it a couple of hours after dinner or what I prefer to do is make a protein shake for one of the meals or snacks, drink half, save the other half for after dinner.
