Default One year since I started Atkins

One year ago today, my fridge was stocked full of a bunch of Induction friendly food (some of this ended up going bad because I had to learn to buy for myself). I was ready to try out Atkins, expecting if it failed to have to find a way to get WLS of some sort.

I would like to say I walked the straight and narrow the whole year. If I had, I probably would have more weight loss to report than just around 92 pounds. But I will take that loss without complaint, thank you very much.

I think I had to approach weight loss like I approached quitting smoking. It doesn't take a resolve to be perfect to succeed, but a resolve to keep at it no matter what.

I've had to learn to adapt Atkins to myself as much as I had to learn to adapt to Atkins. It's hard sometimes to figure out where you're just resisting making changes to yourself and which is a genuine worthwhile adaptation. I am not talking about eating a bag of Fritos for your carbs for the day, but stuff like drinking regular coffee.

So, anyway, I hope that within the next year I will be able to post an "at goal" post, but if it takes me a bit longer, I am fine with that as well.

Happy WOL anniversary!! I like your attitude. I've always felt that "beating yourself up for not being where you "want" to be, puts you on the road to being where "don't" want to be. I just started this WOL on 4/11/08, and like you, I know it won't be easy. There are so many changes and adjustments to make in your life as you go along. But seeing the results as you go along keeps it inspiring.

Another member has the following quote in their signature that I like lot: "I am rewriting my owner's manual because the experts broke it"

Good luck on reaching your goal.

Thanks guys. I got to spend my "Atkinsversary" in the hospital waiting to see a GP to get help with an infection. A lot better now though and I hope to be 100% better in a few days.

Sounds good, you can get there-- it took me 3 years! I am sure I could have probably progressed faster by being more strict. There will be stalls, but there always seems to be a way to break them.
