I've noticed a similar reaction in that the LCers I know are very private with vocalizing their WOE with no vitriol when confronted with challenges or criticism. I have noted in my readings about LCHF that the ability to reduce stress has been referenced many times. I'm beginning to feel that personally, as the infrequent occurrences of stressful situations that would have caused me stress in the past seem to have much less of an impact today. As for applying this to meat eaters, I agree with Kristine. For some that eat meat in a "balanced diet," the jerk potential remains. Is it the spikes in BG, the insulin response, or something else? Hormones out of control can be a real stress inducer.

When I was JUDDDing (alternate day fasting to lose weight) the forum I favored used to talk about 'JUDDD Calm'. People arrived hyper, lived mellow.

Dr Johnson (daddy of JUDDD) says the very low calorie/something about fasting state makes people, well, happier calmer. I went looking just now, found a bunch of studies associating ketosis and dopamine production and/or function.

Looks like any WOE that induces fat metabolism is also a happy pill.

That's really interesting. DietDoctor has a new interview up, with a woman who lost 150 pounds. She says the best side effect of her LCHF diet is the "mental clarity and calm."
