Lately I've been starving the sweet tooth and working on building a fat tooth. My sweet tooth has betrayed me too many times! Though in fact good old fashioned bread was my daily downfall. With adequate fat I am actually satisfied.

Still it's good to know about yummy alternatives, should anything overtake me.

[B][I]I love the Atkins quick breads.....they are greasy but the more fat you put in the more fat you burn. I have had MUCH worse!

I can't find the recipe for the orgasmic brownies when I do a search. Do you have a link? Thanks.

Smile Lo carb options

Since I am doing the induction phase of Atkins I have pretty much lived on the Atkins Advantage Chocolate Peanut Butter bars. These taste pretty good. I find that the more fat I take in such as olive oil, butter or fat from a meat source, the more weight I lose. I am down 31 pounds in 2 months. I haven't really been watching what fats I am ingesting but will certainly look into it. Olive oil has excellent benefits for your health so I suggest eating lots of it. Anyone else on Atkins? I would be willing to converse and share lo carb ideas. Thanks!

I think there's an Atkins thread or two on these boards.

Ditto on the DaVinci brand maple syrup (although the other flavors I've tried have been very good.) The maple tastes like alcohol to me.

I would definitely avoid anything listing glycerine as an ingredient. I just found out that glycerine has 16 carbs per tablespoon and that, for me at least, my body is merrily absorbing ALL of them. This item is probably the single most 'stalling' item I have ever used...and I won't be anymore. Take heed.

DO NOT USE GLYCERINE OR PRODUCTS CONTAINING THIS PRODUCT. I was stalled for six weeks when I started using a sweetener containing glycerine. As soon as I cut it out of my diet, I began to lose again - 2 lbs already!!!!!!! BEWARE!

Dixie Diner chocolate chocolate chip cookie mix. I only made half a bag, and I tasted the dough and spit it out! I thought it was really, really salty, but I think perhaps it had too much baking soda (maybe that's baking powder). It was NASTY. I baked a few cookies to see if that improved them and they were horrific.

The Carbsense brownie mix is just okay. Kind of had a watery effect to them? I really think that a whole bunch of choc. chips would have saved them.

The Oreo cookies aren't that bad, but they're not low carb. They have cornstartch, wheat, and all sorts of garbage. They're just sugar free so you get malitol with a lot of carbs that aren't listed. They're listed in the general carb count, but not broken down. It's realy stupid and misleading to those who are new.

Default Sugar Alcohols

York sugar-free peppermint patties. Too much sugar alcohol and for anyone who is sensitive to this ingredient, you will be very sorry. I was sick all last night from eating just 3 patties.

hmmm....as far as products that contain trans-fats? I have learned that most low carb products that are main stream brands and/or found in grocery stores do have hydrogenated oils in them.

It really is best to head out to your local low carb store, or health food store to buy your products. But even then make sure you double check the labels.

There are so many low carb foods that do have the trans-fats, its almost easier to tell you which do not! lol. At my shop, I do not carry anything with trans-fats, corn syrup, or nutrasweet. If anyone needs product suggestions, let me know. Then you can look for those items in your own towns, or pester your local stores to order them in.

Brands to stay away from...off the top of my head:
Russel Stovers
Whitmans
Werthers
Mission Tortillas
Bella Vita Meat Sauce
Dreyers
Breyers
Big Train
Twizzlers
any peanut butter without the oil on top
Krusteaz
Special K
Carb Options
Sugar Free Nestle Hot Chocolate

Let me know if you want me to list more? Or if you want a suggestion for a product without these nasty ingredients!
