Default Ideas for lunch

Hello,

I have been thinking sometime about what is easy and convenient to have for lunch when I am at work. Anyway, I was walking through sainsburys yesterday, and came across some ready made polenta - 15g of carbs per 100g.

Anyway, this sounded great to have say 50g (thinly sliced and grilled) and eaten as like an open sandwich. So I am going to try this out tommorow and see how it goes.

Also, 'Pret a Manger' has loads of low carb lunches like salads and stuff - quite pricey but great if you havn't had time to make anything that morning.

I thought i would just share that with you guys - anyone else got any 'quick lunch' ideas?

Jamie

Jamie...that sounds great! Wish I lived near you now...LOL

Lunch ideas:
- hard boiled eggs - I always have some in the fridge and throw them into a container with a dollop of mayo and make it into egg salad at work
- cheese and lunch meat (if you are okay with the nitrites which I don't tend to avoid)
- keep nuts at work
- when I make dinner I always throw some of it into a container to reheat...usually before I serve dinner so my lunch is done
- I have a fridge at work and keep staples in there like caesar dressing and cream for my coffee or tea
- I've considered making up a few days worth of breakfast - yogurt, ricotta or cottage cheese w/ sliced fruit in advance so I can grab and go in the morning

Advanced planning makes a really big difference in terms of sticking to my WOE.

Lisa

- small tins of tuna, sardines or other fish in olive oil, spring water are great, and most usually have a ring-pull tab for convenient opening. Watch out for some types with a sauce, which can have flour, starch and or sugar added
- small pouches of dried salamis, pepperoni ... watch the carbs, some have only a trace of sugar, others are way high in carbs
- pre-cut raw vegetables are a great timesaver, and no waste ... broccoli and cauliflower florets, washed baby carrots (raw are permitted as a non-starchy veg), celery sticks

After reading the SP, I thought ALL salamis, etc., were banned. Glad to hear there are some out there that aren't so evil!
