You can never write too much for me! And the weights will stay low and slow. I don't ever see myself lifting for poundage. It's the resistance part of it I love.

Chiro today, so no workout. Maybe some yoga later, but I'm not promising!

I know I said I wasn't going to workout this week, but what can I say, it's a sickness! Once you start it's hard to let it go. Fear of losing gains gets you too. So I did an abbreviated weight workout. 15-20 minutes.

Leg raises 10 each side
10 lb dumbells
15 squats
bent over rows 10 each side
kick backs 5 each side
concentration curls 15 each side
15 overhead tri-extensions
oblique bends 10 each side

15 bent over 22lb barbell rows

full cat vinyasa (to work abs) 10 each side with full leg extension

Remarkably less strength on right side as opposed to left. And notedly my right hip is the one that gives me the most trouble.

Sitting here eating I'm feeling a couple of fibro pain spots flare up. Wanda you know what I mean. Feels like someone poking one specific spot but way deep. Hopefully this will fade as the day goes on, if not I'll have to skip the weights for a while and that just sucks.

Well I did have some backlash from the weights. Pain and tightness off and on throughout the day but nothing I couldn't live through. Although my B complex at lunch, which has been kicking that mid-day slump away had no effect. All I wanted to do was go to sleep. Finally made to bed at 9:30. Should have just said stuff it and took a nap at 2 like I started to. Probably would have felt better. Anyway, woke up OK just very stiff so I did a new yoga routine. It was great. Lower body work out (it was mostly my hips and thighs that were very tight) whole thing takes 20-30 minutes so it's perfect for crappy weather when I can't get out to walk and keep my perky caboose where I want it to be.

It's a routine in a magazine. I'll scan it in today and attach it here as a pdf file so anyone who wants to try it can just save it on your computer and print it off. A few words about yoga if it's your first time. It probably wouldn't hurt to warm yourself up if you're really tight. Take a little walk or do a little cardio on any machine you've got at home. It makes you more flexable than starting out cold. Another thing, you're stronger first thing in the morning and more flexable in the evening, might want to do an afternoon session instead of first thing in the morning when you're stiff from sleeping all night. Unless you want to do strength holds then morning is better. And it is a yoga PRACTICE, don't expect to be able to do full postures first time out. Do a pose as is comfortable for you. Injury can occur if you force yourself into a position for which you are not ready. Some more difficult postures actually have an entire series of poses leading up to the more difficult one to prepair you body for that position. I'll be back later with the article.

Such a double edged sword, huh? It's good that you're going to ease up a bit. I agree, it's hard to take a rest week. But, Liz, it's good for ya so do it! The last thing you want to do is end up associating fibro with lifting weights, like a Pavlovian dog. Then it'll be really hard to get back to it!

Maybe just do yoga for the week instead and then it won't feel like you've done nothing????

Hope it's easing off Lizzy!

Wanda

Well I came back to attach the file I made of the workout, but the attachment manager is not working. Have to find out why...

The file is too large, have to figure out how to zip it, zip it good, dun-na-na-na-na...

Damn, there is no zip program on my computer. I'll keep trying.

OK I have it as 10 seperate .jpg documents. If anyone wants it, speak up and I'll attach the pages.

I miss my bike. I ocassionally go out to the garage and say hello.

Friday: brushed the pool. Took almost an hour, drench in sweat and my abs and obliques ached when I was done. Qualifies as a workout to me.

weekend work out. much holding down of the sofa to the floor. Sunday, housework, ironing, laundry, mopping and scrubbing and up and down the stairs a zillion times.

Hey Lizzy! Hope you're well!

There's a poster on the Exercise forum who's looking for input from people with fibro. I was able to give her some input, but I have to admit that I kept injuring myself when I tried lifting with the fibro so I started lifting weights pretty much after my fibro cleared up.

I hope I wasn't too bold to mention that you have Fibro and might be a good source of info. I thought you might have lots of good advise to offer her. You also probaby know more about fibro than I do.

Here's the thread: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=210013
