Funny and True.....

Even at the point of thinking its "Tweaked to perfection", there's the underlying fear of some mis-step that will cause the whole process to start over again... and sooner or later, it does happen.....

Eddie - I'll be interested to see if Benefibre does work. I cant stand fibre stuff like Metamucil etc but Benefibre is amazing. You can dissolve it in your coffee and it is indetectible so if it works, it would get my vote.

Susan - my 3 hr reading on the cheese toastie was an unusually low 4.5 (which I rechecked) so I am thinking I may try some bread again. Maybe a chicken salad sandwich with mayo and avocado - see if that works.

But that unusually low reading (for me), made me wonder -Is BG a reliable indicator if you are non insulin dependent?? If I still make enough insulin to get by on a lo-carb diet, is it possible that I am producing a lot of insulin in response to the bread (having had an effective 6 month carb free holiday and giving my receptors? a bit of a rest) which is chasing the BG down quickly??? But I just see moderate BG's and think I'm good to eat bread. What do you think?

Red wine at night - sounds good to me!!

Cajun boy, that site says to eat about 2000C a day so that sounds very do-able!!! So I'll give it a go at that and can always tweak down from there.

Yes it is wierd that you do something for a while and then it doesnt work any more and/or something else goes on the fritz. Having diabetes is challenging and I think losing weight is a bit more difficult (I look wistfully at the members success gallery!!) but on the plus side, it teaches us to look after ourselves and pay attention to our bodies. We dont get to go on a diet for 6 months and then go back to our wicked, old ways

Diabetics can never go back to the old, wicked ways. When I'm down about my diabetes, sometimes I think about the positive aspects: eating healthy and exercising has kept me thin and fit and probably saved me from heart disease. Other people go on and off the wagon and that is something we'll never be able to afford to do.

If your meter and weight loss says that bread is good, then it is good for you. I can tolerate Orowheat's 48% fiber bread and other low carb breads I've found. Are you eating a whole grain bread? That's much better for us because of the slower release of carbs compared to white bread.
