Karen

Just thought I'd drop a line to say Thanks for an incredible book - I just got it in the UK and have been drooling over the pages and can't wait to try some of the recipes.

It'll bring back memories of our visits to Vancouver and in particular the Fish House.

I just got this (ordered it through Amazon) and gave it a quick read -- I think I could eat for a year out of this book. And a lot of the recipes sound simple!!!!!! (Meaning that I, as a lapsed cook, will be able to handle them.)

It's really a lowcarber's lowcarb cookbook. Tips throughout (like, What to eat when you're sick, tips on cooking fish, 36 ways to dress up a chicken, etc.). The measurements are in tablespoons and cups as well as those other things people use (i.e., metric) And there are quite a few recipes from people here -- Dottie's tuna patties (I have been looking for a recipes for these for years!), Donald's deep dish pizza, Nat's Cottage Cakes, Rosebud's butter chicken, Tamarian's Upside-Down Shepherd's Pie, and lots lots more. Karen's Parmesan-stuffed eggs with Toasted Almonds, Roasted Mushrooms with Garlic and Thyme, Winter Vegetable Soup and Pork and Shitake Mushroom Meatballs are the four recipes I wrote down to start.

Great phtos too -- well done, Karen. Very rare, too

I agree; it's true lowcarb, not just reduced carb. And it's a foodie's cookbook. Recipe after recipe grab my attention. This may be a cookbook I cook all the way through.

Hi Karen

I tried a couple of recipes at the weekend from the book. A real stand-out one was the ricotta semi-freddo which was superb - it was incredibly creamy, rich and delicious. I'll be trying a few variations on this.

I wondered if you'd tried any successful variations?

I've used mascarpone for this in the past but the ricotta worked really well.

Thanks

Tony

Yes and no on this. It does have a couple of recipes that use Jell-o! ;0

Finely grated unsweetened chocolate and rum; well toasted almonds and brandy; lemon, orange, or lime zest; and different berry toppings. Nothing too earth shattering.
