Default Perimenopausal and NEED to be down by 60 pounds

Hello All.

I was on this forum 8 years ago and had lost 15 pounds in 2 months - to get to my ideal weight. In the last 4-5 years I ahve had several medical problems since im in early menopause at 43 and have among other things gained 60 pounds - migranes, depression etc etc. Im now resolving to go on SBD to lose the weight - everything else seems to be undecontrol.
I exercise two hours a day 5-6 days a week - I hour yoga, 45 min elleptical, 15 min meditation. But the weight refuses to budge, im also on HRT- which i want to wean off in 6 months.
Hereis my diet - any help on that is welcome!

On waking - 5-6 almonds
yoga
Breakfast - lentil pancake OR spinach omlette
Snack - soy milk natural
Lunch - salad with chicken
Snack - Yogurt
6pm snack cootage cheese
protien shake after work out
Dinner - One bowl beans/lentils/ one bowl veggies

It sgood to be back - i felt hugely supported the last time - im sure there is moresupport out there now as well

Katz

Hi and welcome!
May I ask when was the last time that you read the SBD book itself?

On the exercise, while I think its great that you do it, I happen to think that you are over doing it 2 hours 5-6 days a week. I love that you do yoga daily, but 45 minutes on the elliptical daily is way too much as 10-15 minutes is plenty.
I don't know your quantities on protein or lentils but you maybe over doing it on both.
We have the food lists and meal plan charts here in our weighin thread, 2nd and 3rd posts. The meal plan chart is where I learned how to eat this way and I still do, eat this way 5 yrs after I lost all my 120 lbs. IMO, when we begin to see this as a way of eating for life(WOE) and not just another diet, then we learn how to eat to manage our weight.
I highly recommend that you find the food lists and meal plan charts in the weighin thread and print them up to use as reference.
*beans/legumes/lentils are a part of the food plan. 2 servings daily and 1/3-1/2 cup is a serving.
*dairy has a limit of a total of 2 cups daily- here is where I count all dairy including cheeses. I limit my cheese intake to a max of 4 ozs daily.

So, I hope that this does indeed help you get back on the losing track. If you start a journal and log your food daily into it, I can help you with more details. If you'd liike to see my food journal, there is a link to it on the 1st page of my current journal. I did journal my food daily while I was in weight loss mode, its not perfect but it did help me to figure this all out.

Thanks Judy, appreciate your email. I read SBD often!
Great tips on lentils and diary.. will tune them. I did look at the lists as well. Also - how long should a person like me with tons of weight to lose be in Phase 1?

And has anyone been in such amedical condition and yet lost weight?

Thanks again..

How long in phase I? I'd say 2 weeks as its important to do a very thorough phase II as this is where we get to create our food plan for life to prevent regain...it also is good for those with thyroid issues to spur on your metabolism. Also, there is nothing to stop you from going in and out of phase I and II during your weight loss phase.
Those with thyroid problems do not do well with weight loss if and when they stay too low carb for too long. Phase II is your friend!!

I float between all the phases to manage my weight.
