Default How do you indulge?

Every once in a while I have to have a crispy baked potato skin with butter and salt and pepper. It's a comfort food thing for me. Now the trouble is that potatoes (white ones) are not South beach friendly. But I am so cheap it goads me to just eat the skins and throw away the potato insides. But I finally decided that I am being ridiculous. Potatoes are dirt cheap and most of the nutrition in them is just under the skin, as I understand it. So there is no reason for me not to enjoy an occasional potato skin while throwing out the innerds. Now I'm not talking about the mountains of potatoes that I used to eat. I'm talking about the occasional skin that satisfies that need for , oh, I don't know, something akin to home and family and dare I say it, yes, love. Whenever I eat one I am back fifty years ago sitting on my Dad's lap and listening to his sage advice about potatoes. So I will eat my skins, now and again and I won't feel guilty about it.

Now, what is your special craving? And how do you find a way to indulge it without totally screwing up the wonders of the SBD?

I happpen think that having an old favorite food once in a while is totally fine. I've had a baked potato....it was OK....but I have not had any fries as that is just too risky for me.

I have begun to bake a sweet potato and its skin is nice with a bit of butter.

I even allow myself to have a small cup of soft serve ice cream once in a while.
