Default Back at it - Phase One - 14lbs this week

All:

I've been off the wagon for quite some time. I returned to the South Beach way of life on Monday, March 14th and I've lost 14lbs this week.

I've just got to lose this weigh this time. I have no choice

Judy - so glad to see you're still around. You're my hero. I'm TOTALLY going to "float phases" this time to truly figure out my carb tolerance level when adding fruit and starches back into my diet.

Wish me luck.

Welcome Back!

I'm glad that I'm your hero!
If you don't mind my asking, why not do what I did and log your food daily into a journal here as your accountability...thats what I did.
It requires a promise to yourself and a daily task to keep that promise.
It is an act of self love...which we all need...IMO!!

This link will tell you all you need to know to start your own journal.

If you click on my journal button and go to its first page, there is a link there to my 1st journal where I logged my food daily for 800 days...yes 800 of them IN A ROW!!! NO Breaks!!

Wow! Good to know. I'm never near my computer on the weekends, so it would be M-F. But I will seriously consider that!

Thanks Judy!

Im starting south beach style all over again..it really worked and I never felt deprived..so hows it going for you? I also feel like I need to start a journal and I really liked the idea how it makes you accountable on a daily basis, mentioned above. Good Luck!

Calling all Veterans of South Beach. I plan on starting phase 1 on Monday (switching from Atkins to South Beach). I have read the book, okay skimmed parts, read most, but still have some questions.

1) Can I still drink Atkin's shakes once a day?
2) Can I eat the Atkin granola bar that is permitted during Atkin's induction?
3) Besides lean meats, can I eat unlimited of the following (until full not stuffed):
- Low-Fat Skim String Cheese (or any cheese that meets the criteria in the book);
- Mussels and Clams;
- Vegetables on the allowed list for phase 1
4) How much Avocado and Tomato am I allowed to have in phase 1?
5) Am I allowed to have sugar free water flavor enhancers?

Thanks for your answers. I probably would not be confused if I was not doing Atkin's first. I get some of the rules crossed and wanted to clarify for my sanity.

1) Can I still drink Atkin's shakes once a day? No Atkins shakes or bars.
2) Can I eat the Atkin granola bar that is permitted during Atkin's induction? no, see above.
3) Besides lean meats, can I eat unlimited of the following (until full not stuffed):
- Low-Fat Skim String Cheese (or any cheese that meets the criteria in the book); hard Cheeses need to be kept to a max of 4 ozs per day based on my expeirence. part of 2 cup dairy daily total
- Mussels and Clams; this is a protein that is an allowed one from the list. Start small(4-6 ozs) and have seconds if still hungry
- Vegetables on the allowed list for phase 1- all phase I veggies are unlimited
4) How much Avocado and Tomato am I allowed to have in phase 1? see the food list for avocado( its under good fats) portion, tomato can be as much as you want
5) Am I allowed to have sugar free water flavor enhancers? yes

Please make sure that you locate the food lists and meal plan guides to refer to as you learn to eat the SBD way. They are the 2nd and 3rd posts in the weighin thread.

Thanks Judy, that is helpful. Good to know about the 4oz of cheese, that is the limit I have now, so will be one of the easier transitions. I am looking forward to eating more veggies than I was allowed on Atkins. I will probably postpone one week now though because I want to finish up my aktins bars/shakes. Don't want to just throw them out.
