I realized the canned Swanson chicken, which claims no MSG, has MSG. CALP says it causes people problems. That in fact, it's used to "fatten up" lab animals. I also cooked using their soups as the labels get the schools some credit. THAT'S gonna stop. I have several things in my pantry that will be going. Campbells apparently owns or is owned or affiliated with Swanson. Frickin Chicken with Herbs, the SECOND ingredient is Modified Food Starch.. Why do I feel like a moron?

It's the money mentality of the manufacturers. Real stock without enhancers would cost more money to make and thus have a higher price tag and thus reduce profit. Chicken stock can be made a lot cheaper if you use MSG which makes food taste good. People are aware of MSG and its affects so...find another name!!! There are tons of names out there for MSG.

I would advise investing in a deep freeze and making your own stocks. I do. They are much less expensive than the canned variety to make and you can control the ingredients. A deep freeze is a boon..even a small one.
