Default Bloodwork!

Ok I have heard several people on here talking about having bloodwork done for their LDL and HDL and other things of that nature and have posted in a few of thos asking this quesiton but not gotten a response so.... I figured I could just post the question. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST to have this done onf average I want to get this done but have no idea exactly what to ask for any help would be appreciated.

Hi, just ask for exactly that,tell the doc why and he/she will arrange it for you. Not sure of the cost, since I'm in Canada and we don't pay for that here.

I get mine done at a community health fair. It was $30 for the cholesterol components, liver functions, kidney stuff, and minerals.

My insurance covers most of it,at least up to my "annual preventive whatever" limit, so I can't really remember.

If you don't have insurance, I agree that you could just ask your health care provider what the average cost of the lab work, plus interpretation, would be.

It's usually free if you have health insurance. I get my bloodwork done twice a year, all I have to do is see my doctor and let her know that I want to see how my cholesterol, etc is doing. If you don't have health insurance, it can be pretty expensive. You could always go to a health fair, as suggested by Dodger, or go to a county hospital (still a bit expensive, and quite a wait), or go to a clinic that charges based on income.
