Default advice on which exercise please

Hi people!

It seems you all are very much into exercise so i thought i should ask you what exercise you think it would be good for me.

Last time i tried going to a gym they basically told me that walking around the house is good enough since i am seriously overweight... They maybe right i am seriously overweight but i don't buy that there is nothing i can do. So please keep the suggestions coming my way!!!

I am looking for a video or dvd workout including some weight training if i could.

Thank you very much for your advice.

Take care

You are right! Don't listen to em! They are full of crap. You're not too heavy to exercise. But, everyone says check with your doctor before starting any exercise regimen. That being done, your options are endless.

Let's see, I have heard a lot about Walk Away the Pounds, that's a popular one, lots of people losing with that one. I have also heard good things about The Firm and pilates as well. I'd look into the Walk Away the Pounds to start with. Or a treadmill and some music! Good luck!

I'm casting a second vote for Walk Away the Pounds. You and I are the same weight and I've found that I'm able to do the walk away the pounds videos. When I first started about 6 weeks ago, I mainly did the 2 mile one, but now I've gotten to where I can handle the 3 mile one better, so that's the one I do now if I have enough time. I'm always using Secrets of a Great Body-Upper & Lower (they are on seperate tapes) by Kathy Smith to get into weight training. You wouldn't need much equipment to start, either...just a few sizes of dumbells and you're ready to go. I use 3, 5, and 8 right now and I have a 15lb dumbell that I use for upper back exercises since that muscle is a lot stronger than most others.

It's great that you didn't listen to them telling you that you can't do much! So many people seem to think that once we pass a certain size, then we're doomed to stay that way. It's so far from the truth! You just gotta find the right place to start for you!

Horrible people at those clubs!

I think the real question is what do you think you would like. The key isn't a specific exercise but the consistancy of doing something.

I like get to a sweat everyday mentality....

Think about what you might come to enjoy doing! What kind of activities do you imagine yourself doing when you are at your goal weight?
