Nina's book has had a tremendous impact by attracting readers who would otherwise never tackle an issue on nutrition. Her controversial subject matter has made waves, and that's great!

Thanks for the link to DD and Gladwell's podcast. This topic needs to be understood by the main stream population, and every controversy, debate, and discussion helps to increase awareness that we have an acute public health issue that can be addressed by food.

Another good podcast with Nina, show notes on the topics, interesting info on what Americans have been eating since the advice to lower fats, and on omega 3.

I love how almost 4 years after her book was published she is becoming more visable, not less. She’s also on the latest Obesity Code Pocast on yo-yo dieting starting about 40 minute mark.

A new article on the Nutrition Coalition website:

THE LARGEST PROMOTERS OF HIGH-CARB DIETS ARE FUNDED BY CORPORATE INTERESTS

https://www.nutritioncoalition.us/2...rate-interests/

Do you want to "Get #real nutrition facts beyond the headlines"?

Highly recommend signing up for the Nutrition Coalition email...not frequent, maybe monthly?, but good. Written with help from the same women who writes the DietDoctor monthly news round-up.

Even as someone sold on low carb, the article seems hypocritical to me. Is the Nutrition Coalition really funded and ran by people with no bias. Is Jimmy Moore corrupted by his sponsors? My point is not to defend big Ag, or criticize Jimmy, but rather to say people should be skeptical of anyone who is advocating for a specific point of view with no tolerance for opposing views. Enjoyed the read.

"Opinions differ" is fine when it's a favorite color or what person we'd like to marry. When things truly are subjective it's important for "opposing views" to be heard.

But when there is objective data to be assessed, in a clear case of advocacy supported by results, science, and clearly demonstrated avenues of bias; that's different.

"Both sides" does not apply to all situations.

My only point is that it is a weak argument. One could also say Dr. Westman's testing was invalid because they were funded by Dr. Atkins. I wouldn't, but it's the same argument. It's fair to raise the issue, but it's not who funds the study that determines its objectivity, it's the people who design and implement the study, along with those who analyze and report the data. Of course they can be corrupted by the funding, but If we really want to invalidate a study, let's look at the people writing the report or better yet, the data itself.
