I think I backslide because I don’t really like myself on a diet. I like to be the fun one who has amazing dinner parties and has a few drinks with friends and is fun and chill around food. Being low carb pulls my social nature inward. I eat weird food like uncured bacon and ‘crack slaw’ that even isolates me from my family.

On many occasions I can bring devilled eggs, Jalapeño Poppers or a nice low carb salad and be really happy and social and I’ve engineered holiday dinners to be low carb (for me).

It’s just hard to keep myself in the right head space through it all because I stay on track better when I keep it simple and keep my head down.

Low carb food doesn't have to be weird. The last 2 things I took to potlucks were tuna salad & green beans with onions & bacon - both were popular with "normal" eaters.
