Default boy do I feel sick

I just finished a major binge. I feel so full and tired and sick.

My body cant handle carbohydrate. I'm convinced it doesnt even recognize it as food. You're never full after a carby meal, or at least I'm not, I just keep eating eating EATING, and then I fall asleep and wake up with carb mania and the cycle starts over. I cant stop the cycle by not eating, I have to put a meal-sized fatty protein dish in me in order to stop the craziness.

Carbs do nothing for me. I feel so gross. I can't wait til tomorrow when I can wake up and have some real food and not feel sick.

Blegh.

I'm in the same place right now. It isn't easy for me to dig myself out of it. It is difficult to find my path back to health even though I know what steps to take.

It sounds like you know the steps to take too.

I'll tell you the same thing I'm telling myself:
1. Forgive
2. Allow time to heal (mind and body)
3. Move on
Do all the steps in a loving manner. Treat yourself as kindly and tenderly as you would a sick child recovering from the flu. That is why "Forgive" is number one on the list. It is easy to kick someone when they are down. And recovering from a binge is definitely a body/mind "down". So, no kicking yourself. It isn't fair and it isn't productive.

All that being said, it isn't easy. It is really hard.

Damage control is better than perfect. Perfect is hard to come by when rebounding from a carb binge. It doesn't mean all is lost.

The health accomplishments you have already made in your life isn't erased by a binge or even several in a row. You're not at "square one". The knowledge you have gained in this journey about your health and about yourself doesn't go "poof". You are stronger and more knowledgeable now than you were a year ago or ten years ago. You know what foods make you sick, you know what foods are neutral, you know what foods make you feel well. At one time in your life, you wouldn't even have known those things.

It will still be hard. But you are more prepared right now- in this moment- to guide yourself to health that you have ever been in your life.
Even, if the steps are staggering, limping, and slow- it is worth it.

So we fell- who hasn't? We are down but we are not done. There is still a little fight left in us, right?

Sleep well, wake up strong and ready to fight again.
