Default What is that paper that they wrap "wraps" in?

I want to make some "wraps" like chicken/bacon/cheese ranch wraps with some leafy lettuce wrapped around them but I've been unsuccessful figuring out how to get the lettuce to wrap correctly. I recently went to Hardee's and had a chicken bacon club wrapped in lettuce and they held it all together using some form of paper; sort of like parchment but a bit different.

Any idea what that paper is?

No. But ask the manager, maybe you will be given some sheets.
Have you tried using Romaine lettuce length-wise? It's already in a boat-like or hot dog bun shape, easy to hold it closed.

Thanks, I didn't try Romaine, but I did try some other lettuce and it didn't work.

I have no idea what the "paper" is... I love Janet's suggestion to ask the manager!

I buy "Lettuce Wraps" at Wal-mart. Here's one example that I've purchased to make my own "wraps":

BIG PLUS: Pre-washed, pre-cut, just open and use!

Jealous that your store carries those, Jo- I have seen them, but never close to home.

I think romaine is hands down best, because it is sturdy. I usually use tin foil if I trying to keep hands clean (often, I eat lunch while on my computer- I know, I know! Terrible habit!).

Take a large bowl, put some boiling water in there, and quickly dip the lettuce leaf in. The hot water will 'wilt' it slightly, making it easier to wrap food. Don't over-dip, or you'll cook the lettuce.....

That's how we used to prepare wraps in our Bistro/restaurant....

I like butter lettuce for wraps.
I buy it in a little plastic dome that includes the root and keeps fresh for much longer then cut lettuce.
The leaf is tender but a meaty bite and so good tasting and really holds the filling.
