Default Mc Donalds salad carb count

Not sure on the carbs in Mc Donalds Southwest salad with grilled chicken. their website has 28 carbs and 7 fiber. They always ask if you want the salad dressing, its not sold as a separate item. Its in a packet labeled 11 carbs, 1 g fiber.

Is there a to tell if the salad dressing is counted in the total for the salad?

thanks!

Not sure, but I would guess the dressing is an extra 11 grams on top of the 28 for the salad itself.

The dressing is in addition to the salad carb count.
The problem with their chicken is that it's so processed with fillers and sugar= 9g sugar.

My housing arrangement doesn't include the kitchen unfortunately, so I eat out every meal. My protein is coming from protein bars and canned processed meats.

I tried going to In n out. I ordered animal style but I ended up getting a burger soaked in sauce with the bun. I'm not sure how to order the lowcarb version there.

You guys are right. The funny is that I just realized they didn't give me the southwest salad - no tomato, corn, cheese, black beans and the salad dressing was creamy ranch!

Thanks for the info I would have 'guessed' the other way.

If I have to eat at Micky Ds I will order a Big Mac and throw away the 3 pieces of bread and that's 7g carbs with the sauce, lettuce, 2 patties, pickles, onions. If you have them omit the sauce that brings it down to 5g.

You're welcome Nawchem.
I usually pull out the middle bread, put the patties together and use the 2 breads like you would use the peel of a banana, just to hold it. Then I tear and toss into the bag as I go.
Honestly, I am just as full as if I had eaten the whole thing back in the day.

Going to try that tomorrow, way better than a 31 carb salad.

That's expensive. There are plenty of things like beef jerky (not the bagged kind or stix), macadamia nuts, restaurant salad bars, tinned fish, protein powder mix etc. I can think of.

I practically live on the chunks of beef or turkey jerky. I order it fresh from a meat market they make it here and ship FedX. Two pounds lasts me a week easy.

Nawchem, I don't know what stores are near you, but if you explore mostly the perimeter of your local supermarket, including Walmart, you'll discover many fresh, ready-to-eat low-carb foods: Produce, dairy, meats. Bagged salad. Nuts and nut butters. Pickles and olives. Yogurts and cheeses. Rotisserie chickens. Pre-cut raw vegetables. Etcetera. Maybe even a salad bar. You can also buy small bottles of your own condiments and dressings. Also, if it's possible in your situation, it might be good to consider buying a plug-and-play appliance like an Instant Pot or a crock pot/slow cooker to cook your own meat, soups, etc. and maybe even a tiny box fridge to stick in the corner and store cool drinks and bits of leftovers.

Thanks guys the tips are great, but its even greater to be given hope!!

I don't have refrigeration and going to the store and standing in line twice a day gets so old. You just made me see that I've got to slip a tiny fridge in here. It will really open up my fresh food choices.

mike d that jerky sounds delicious. Would you mind pm-ing me that address?

I have access to nearly every market you can think of-- so no excuses!
