ROFL, none. Sorry, I confess I'm not a big meat fan in general, but raw meat is a total no-no for me. I can't even bear to think about it!

I eat only raw meat, raw fish, raw egg yolks and raw anima fat because my digestive system is compromised and I am gluten-sensible and cooked food is like a rock in my stomach.

I love raw eggs, I wish the biotin wasn't an issue with the egg whites. I'm not squeamish about raw beef, sometimes if I'm hungry I'll only very slightly brown burger for flavour and then eat it.

Teaser--you can eat raw eggs without worry! The biotin in the egg yolk way offsets any avidin (biotin binder) in the egg whites. Raw eggs are a fantastic food--I try and eat one every day in a smoothie. My great uncle ate one every day--just slurped it down in a glass--and he lived to be 103, so it must not have hurt him.

Regarding raw meat--I'm very curious about how well humans can actually handle raw meat, but far to squeamish to give it a try, can't even handle the idea of sushi. I suspect with some microbiota adjustment in the intestines, we would do okay with it, as these posters seem to corroborate. My dog does fantastically well on it, but our intestines are far different from a dog.

I don't know. I've read studies showing the capacity of the egg white in an egg to bind biotin outstrips the biotin content in the yolk. I've not seen anything showing animals being given actual biotin deficiencies while being fed whole eggs, though. An egg a day is one thing, if somebody wants to make raw eggs a major food source, that might be another thing.

I have a weird intolerance to broth. Take any meat, fish, fowl, and boil it with salt for a few hours. If I drink the broth, within ten minutes I'm probably running to the bathroom. Gives me the runs. Vinegar, or stewing the meat in some tomato, keeps that from happening. But raw/undercooked meat doesn't give me this problem. So my gut seems happier with raw meat than with at least one cooking method, going in.

I'm good with raw eggs. I cook all other animal proteins, although in some cases it's still pretty rare. I enjoy my red meat rare. Otherwise, raw animal protein to me has a slimy factor I don't enjoy.

I'm pretty sure we humans learned to cook 140,000 or more years ago for a good reason. However, having said that, I do enjoy the occasional sushi, sashimi, cerviche, and tartar.

Eleven to twelve minutes into this documentary, they give a pretty good theory of why cooking caught on.

It's a SpongeBob video in paleolithic times. SpongeBob and his buddies discover fire and use it to cook anything and everything in sight. Just my silly way of saying that cooking makes things yummy, and that might have as much to do with our ancestors cooking their food as any physiological benefit we might get.

Chimps prefer their food cooked too.

With raw meat my digestion is great, but cooked meat is like a rock in my stomach.
I cannot eat cooked meat, make me feel bad.
god is good with me, beef short ribs and lamb ribs are inexpensive.

Chimps prefer their food cooked... seems unlikely that they need it cooked.

My friends had a fondue thing last night, lots of thinly sliced beef with a hot pot of broth to cook it in. I ate most of mine raw, no salt or seasoning.

I've seen vegans claim that meat is totally unpalatable unless you do stuff to it... for me that describes soy, not meat. Except with soy, I still don't like it, even after the food scientists have had their way with it.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/art...j01123-0140.pdf

Cooking speeds digestion of meat...

Sometimes the argument is made that cooking speeds the digestion of meat, this allowed the brain to be bigger, and the gut smaller. This suggests... what? If I eat raw beef, instead of cooked, will my gut be to short for this diet to sustain me? There is no evidence that a diet of raw meat would be deficient vs. a diet of cooked meat, is there?
