Question No scale support

Hi all, I'm a low carber, type 2 diabetes, and I measure my success at dieting at my blood sugar levels. I don't own a scale nor do I want one... too mental I blame my ADHD lolol and who, currently I went from 400 to 167 my meter broke so I can't measure for a few days. But as you can see. my low carb diet is going well. Anyone else goes this without a scale?

I threw out my scale several years ago. At that time I had gone from 245 lbs to 175 lbs. At my last doctors appointment, a few months ago I had lost another 30 lbs, in 2 years, no scale needed. I too track my blood sugar levels following Dr Bernstein's 6-12-12. That's how I measure success.

I have actually struggled with this. I try to limit my scale use to at least once a week, just because I have so much to lose and it can really bring me down to see a higher number, even if I know it's just a normal daily fluctuation. It's a very hard habit to break, though.

weekly weigh in to keep me on track. never had sugar problems so I can not use that as any kind of indicator. scale keeps me honest.

I can make myself crazy with the scale, and my glucose monitor too, for that matter, but clothes never lie.

I look at this way if I am eating LC and the scale doesn't move much for a week or two so what, because I know if I keep doing the right thing it's going to happen, anyway that works for me. I will be happy when I get down to my goal weight, but I am enjoying the journey.

At this time the scale we have at home doesn't work for me because I am to big, so I go to my local clinic every Friday and weigh in.

I wish nothing but the best to everyone keep your chin up and keep forging ahead!

Hi , i dont use a blood sugar scale and to be honest I do not use a weight scale either.

When i first started on atkins I was too upset to even weigh myself. This may sound stupid but i could only face taking a tape measure ,and measuring around my KNEE. My weight appeared the same, my blood sugar appeared the same BUT I was loosing a quarter of an inch a WEEK.

The best thing i can say is record ALL BUT use the BEST to give you motivation!

A Story for you. I saw the most WONDERFUL pair of suede trousers in a thrift shop. I couldnt get it past my ankles ! I hung it in my wardrobe and every friday tried it on.The scales showed zero loss BUT it was now mid calf. The scales showed average loss BUT it was on my knee.

Simply sweetheart. there are lots of ways of measuring and NONE of them are foolproof. Take the one that gives you the most positive encouragement.

Well done & keep on going well !!
