Cool Howdy from Las Vegas. Any Locals?

Just thought I would see if there are any locals around here "doin' the deal" & what kind of sucess they are having. I started at 266 2 months ago & am down to 235 right now. I have just stuck to the induction phase & the fat fast alternatively. Still anothes 20-25 lbs to go. Maybe more. I will have to see when I get there.Pleanty of energy. Lots of compliments. Even started exercising. Local support group would be a good idea.

Ditto. Isn't it great. I've just realised something which feels quite important. My first month or so on Atkins I was paying for internet calls so i got up and did my exercises first thing - on an empty stomach. I lost a whole lot more weight.

Then I sorted it out so I had this package which allows unlimited internet access 6pm to 8am. And I started getting up and going straight to the computer to get in an hour or two before 8am. Weight loss still there but much slower.

Have you read the Cardio-AM thread in Exercise Forum? It's got some great tips there.

Take care.

Hi--just found your post.

I used to live in Las Vegas--currently down in Kingman, AZ; If I found the right job, I'd go back to the big city though. Recently took a trip up there for shopping and fun. I miss Trader Joe's

Success: First time I did this WOE I lost 50 lbs in 6 months, then I went off of it scared of some bad publicity I'd heard. The weight stayed off for a while, but as I kept eating carbs I put most of it back on. First time around (my biggest) I weighed 281 lbs--I lost down to 225 before I went off (my mistake ) I feel better and healthier when LC eating, but I let lots of things distract me (yeah....like chocolate) I recently joined this forum and the encouragement here is helping me stick to it.

Besides lost weight, when I was able to stick with it the first time my asthma improved and the aches in my legs stopped.

Hey, I heard a rumor that there was a Low-Carb Cafe in Vegas...Is it true? Do you know where it is?

howdy, Yes I believe there are some low carb eateries here but never really looked for them. I started off at 266lbs & now 2 months later I am at 230lbs & feeling great. I pretty much stay in ketosis with the occaisional regular meal when I hit a stall. It gets things moving again. Am in the gym 2x a day. Treadmill in the morning & weights in the afternoon. The results are amazing. I have to do the fat fast once a week or so, but there is no hunger.

Talking local las vegas,nv

Hi Fellow las vegas lcers.Great to find some local support.Maybe someone can give me some good dinner easy menues, getting so burned out on chicken, steak, pok chops, and such cooked on my george forman grill.Iv been cheating last 3 days, but must get back on.Hate to gain back what iv lost. Some of you were wondering about a low carb eatery.Cristens low carb cafe-better nutrition, its in the boca shoping center ne corner of rampart n town center. Its a great place they have all the usual things +a cafe,i go and get a chocalate ice cream shake that taste like the real thing,no sugar, only 4 carbs. Also pizza, nachoes,no sugar LESS then 1 gram of carbs also like the real thing. When you go plan on spending a little time there as they have so many good eats, bread better then atkins,p-nut brittle, lol you can tell im a regular, they all know me.Don'nt miss the 2 large freezers in the back right corrner, filled with all sorts of goodies.Hope to here from yall soon,Dave.

Default hi guys!

I just found this thread--cool--I've been lcing since mar 13 2002 and I'm down 33 1/2 lbs. I love this forum and all my journaling friends! I'm excited to try Dave's low carb place, but have no idea where rampart and town center are. Are they streets? I usually eat Wendy's BLT Salad. I'm not too inventive, but I'd love to see what's there.
Have we had a hot summer? whew! But, I love Nevada. I was actually born here 50 years ago, which is a rare find! Las Vegas was just a town back then.
It's been awhile since anyone posted here, hope some of you ar still around!
Dianne

One of them is at Ann and I-95 in the Wal Mart/Sams Club/Home Depot/ etc etc shopping center.

So far I've tried the french vanilla shake and the brownie ala mode. Both were excellent, but I found they had quite a laxative effect on me, so beware.

I was also happy to find low carb breads and tortillas in the freezers in the back, and Kristen's low carb fine imported belgium chocolates are to die for.

I guess over the weekend they had a fundraiser for some children's charity at the store on Charleston(?) and Rampart, and for $10 dollars they were giving out tasting samples of lots of low carb foods. I couldn't make it though.

Edit: It was $10, not $100.

Question Carb-cafe

I was just curious about Kristens's Low-Carb Cafe. I just went there today and got one of the most delicious meals that I have ever had before. I was not expecting it to taste that good. Anyway I don't understand how on earth it is possible that my whole entire meal was less than 15 carbs. Can someone tell me if this place is legitimate with the amount of carbs that they list . Has anyone heard of any research that has been done on this place. PLEASE LET ME KNOW>

Talking low carb cafe

Hi juicy,Glad you found that low carb cafe.It has been a big help for me,not only food items but supplements also.Witch one did you go to,and what did you have?I have been going there for almost a year ,and have'nt had any problems. All of there carb, sugar listing can only be correct ,i asume, as iv never been knoked off the diet from anything i consumed there or took home. There shakes taste like the real deal,i get the chokalate monkey with heavy cream wipped topping, also cristys candy bars are wonderfull.I try not to eat that stuff to ofen as sometimes it gets my carb cravings up.Hope this helps,Dave.

Thank you for the reply. That is definitely good to hear. I have only just started this diet, and I want to make sure that I don't stray from it. I had the hotdog and chips, as well as the chocolate monkey.

Thumbs up Low carb in Vegas

I was just going to post a question, and thought I would check around first....good thing I did!!
I am from the great white north, and I'm coming to Vegas with DH for a convention at the beginning of Feb. I wanted to know what I would be able to find for low carb goodies and supplies that I can't get here. I'm gonna be spendin' a little time and money at Better Nutrition for sure!! And a low carb cafe?! Oh goodee!!!
Is there any place else that I should go?? We have very little here in the way of low carb stuff.
I'm looking forward to this!!
Carolyn
