Default New to low carb!

Hi!

My name is Sara, I'm new to the forum and to low carbing. I've reached the end of my rope with my weight, and because I am disabled, strenuous exercise isn't possible. I still use an exercise bike every day as much as i can tho.
I'm 34 and my fiance and I live in GA.
We want to start a family and I know if I don't get my weight down it will be an issue. Although we are not currently TTC

I am glad to be here.

Welcome. This is a great place to come for help and advice as you navigate your way to a lighter you!

My best advice as someone that has been where you are - read and reread and then follow your plan as written. The wonderful part of following Atkins is that it is made to customize to fit you and your body as you move from induction into OWL. You can do this!

Hi Sara, welcome! One of the things that is good about low carbing, is that once you find the combination of foods that work for you, most of your weight change will be due to your new way of eating. This is not the "Biggest Loser" where people need to exercise themselves to exhaustion in order to lose a few pounds. Most weight loss doesn't work that way. That's usually a surprise to many of us who have heard the old belief of "calories in, calories out" over the years. Since you just started, I've found that focusing on getting your macros (ratio of fat, protein, and carbs) correct for you along with identifying the foods that will go into your daily meal plan are the best things to cover at the beginning. Usually, we all make minor adjustments as we learn more through trial and error, because no two people are the same. There's plenty of information on this forum that can help you do that. And as you already know, you can post a question. Good luck!

Oh my, calories in and calories out. Yeah....I did that for the last 6 months. It did nothing. Of course I had a bad habit of eating 600 of those calories in donuts or candy. LOL
I'm onto day 3 and haven't had any sugar...It's been tough, but I'm determined to do this. The hardest part for me is the massive headache i have every night from having no sugar all day.
