Default IF raising blood pressure?

I think it may be due to stressing the body with the fast causing over-stimulation via "fight or flight" hormones, or just mild dehydration due to ketosis and not drinking enough in the hot weather? Several people have reported 5:2 fasting causing this.

I check mine bid, I have a history of high systolic. It does go up until I eat something around 1:30 PM then it goes low -- strange indeed. In any case I will start drinking more liquids and Topo-Chico mineral water than ever. I noticed my Walmart has sold out of the imported sparkling water beverage in this Summer heat wave.

Dubai: As a majority of the UAE population suffers from hypertension, a heart doctor has warned that fasting could shoot up their blood pressure (BP) even higher.
What I opine, if you fast, get a meter and check BP two to three times daily. I have a prescription beta blocker to take if mine gets up and stays elevated which it hasn't yet. I also spot-check FBS and it has been below 100 upon rising and 80's during the day.

How much of an increase are you noticing ? Any increase that reduces with food intake can't be that significant.

Diastolic rarely goes above 80, have seen systolic go as high as 160 at times. Most days it stays below 130 pulse 59.

Dr. Mike Eades wrote about a study showing IF, I think it was a Warrior Diet one meal a day type, raising blood pressure.

Normal blood pressure after eating sort of sounds like what can happen with some people who experience post-eating hypotension, except with blood pressure going to normal instead of low. Blood supply to the digestive system increases after a meal, that can result in a decrease in blood pressure. Also insulin has an acute effect of vasodilation in the periphery, that facilitates uptake of nutrients by muscle etc.

I've narrowed the effect down to the stress caused by fasting coupled with dehydration. Hasn't happened recently since I upped my mineral water consumption and cut down on the black coffee.

Dehydration in this case makes the most sense.
