Yeah, they even commented on that in the second article, that foods high in both fat and carbohydrate not being a thing out in nature. Looks like everything tested was "snack food." So the study people liked tasty snack food dessert type stuff that has a mix of fat and sugar. I wonder what those foods were compared to if all of it was snack food? I know of snacks that are just sugar like fat free candies, but what would be a typical snack food they might have tested that is mainly just fat? Pork rinds or something? I can see the average eater preferring, say, fat and sugar rich donuts, cake or candy bars over pork rinds and fat free candies. I'm not sure how or if the evolutionary part ties in on whether people are actually instinctively looking for the highest source of calories/energy when they select a dessert or junk food snack. I'm inclined to believe the stuff is addictive, but I think there's something else to it and not just that higher calorie foods in themselves are addictive.
