Default Warning Labels

WARNING: DO NOT STOP ANY TREATMENT OR MEDICATION YOU CURRENTLY USE. CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING THE USE OF SUPPLEMENTS.

Businesses that provide alternative medicines and supplements are subjected to lawsuits all the time for failure to have proper “warning labels” on products.

There should be a flip side to this: Who requires the warning label? FDA? Lobbyists for the AMA? Lobbyists for Drug companies?

Those “warning labels” might be helpful, but I believe they are also harmful.

I know that life is crapshoot, without guarantees, but in my opinion, Drug companies and Health Care Providers have been using a scare tactic on the general population to keep people from thinking for themselves and depending on the medical community for health care. My common sense, which may not be too common is that; Medical professionals are humans and when there is a buck to be made, they are highly likely to be biased in favor of the almighty buck over my own personal health.

If I had not ignored traditional medical advice and searched on my own for alternative treatment methods, I probably would not have a functioning pancreas today. I stopped medical treatment as advised by my Doctor. I didn’t consult my Doctor about my use of supplements. I advised my Doctor of what I was going to do and notified my Doctor that I would let my blood test results determine any changes needed in my course of action. I do report everything I do to my Doctor and now my Doctor is taking notes and doing research on the things I advise that I am doing. I can still see a lot of doubt in my Doctor while I’m talking about the recent things I’m doing, but those doubts fade when my blood test results are reviewed.

I believe our bodies are designed to heal themselves as we feed ourselves an all natural diet, but I believe chemical drugs and processed foods interfere with that ability which is innate within us.

My Personal Warning:
This thread is for my venting about how I feel about modern medicine having nearly killed me. It is not my intention to be informative or a source of new medical information or advice. These comments are my own and don’t represent the thinking of any other human entity.

I think we need a new warning label on all medical products and servies that reads:

Warning: Warning labels can be also hazardous to your health. Use caution before following medical advice or following the instructions on warning labels.

My doctor is generally (understatement!) adverse to the Bernstein approach. And he does not like to discuss these things. So I hit upon the idea of sending the infrequent letter letting him know what I am doing, ie, using regular insulin before exercise or if I get a high reading. His nurse says that he signs my letter and puts it in the records. I cannot find a doctor who will support my mode of treatment, Rx insulin, and discuss a(briefly) what is going on with my pancreas. But he is willing to Rx, so I can cope.
