Default Ugh . . . fell off the wagon.

I am so upset with myself. I fell off the wagon today in the stupidest way. I had three enormous handfuls of Cheezit crackers! Why? I have no idea. Then I almost had some red vines at the movies. The only thing that stopped me was my 10 year old daughter. She said, "Mommy, you know better - you'll thank me later" as she took them out of my hand and threw them on the floor! (Bless that child!!) I just don't know why I did it. Makes no sense at all.

Your brain shuts off. It's happened to me, when I had eating issues.

Sit down and do the thinking you didn't do at the time. Were you upset about something? Gotten too hungry? Feeling stressed?

There's usually a reason, no matter how stupid

I had a binge recently because I hadn't eaten enough. I wrote about it in the "skipping meals" thread. Could it be that you're not eating enough?

When I fall off it is spectacular event. I often stay off for weeks, and it is so detrimental.

The slip is not as bad if you can dust yourself off and get back to plan. I have to really watch myself, as the sugar cravings are stimulated by a wrong type of food for me, and when the slip happens I really need to motivate myself that every time a slip happens, not to let it turn into a free fall.

good luck

I think it was a couple of things. First, it's mid month and for me that is even worse the TOM in terms of cravings. Second, I've been home all week with the kids for spring break and we've been pretty bored. Boredom = eating for me. At least it used to. Finally, my dh is deployed. He's been gone for a little over 2 weeks so I guess that's effecting my mood. The only good thing about this is it truly only lasted one day. Three large handfuls of Cheezits, a small apple and too many walnuts. That's the worst of it.

I Thank you and your husband for your service! At least you (with the help of your daughter) caught it early before it turned into a whole deal. Back on the wagon!
