Talking Fruit and quantities...

I'm still doing induction, however, I would like to have some fruit from time to time. I love berries, so that part won't be at all tough - when I finally get to add that back into my diet.

Can I skip over the more veggies, seeds and nuts, straight to adding some berries? I get a heap of veggie variety as it is, and would prefer some berries to nuts.

I don't really seem to have a sweet tooth - in that I don't crave sweets, however, a glass of freshly squeezed oj (I squeeze it myself normally), or a handful of grapes would be really nice from time to time... is this permissable?

Someone said to me that the aim was to loose the sweet tooth. Surely in lifetime maintainence, fresh fruit in the diet is part of a healthy diet?

Still searching for Sucralose/Splenda. Can't find it yet. Will have to try in Luxembourg... wouldn't mind having it for the occasional dessert.

Well its a no no on induction. Wait till you get to owl. Then you can use some fruits like strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, rasberries. I would leave the others fruits alone till maint.
Oj is a real nono

The short answer is "No". It's not in the book for the plan you are following to do that.

On the other hand, no one can stop you from doing whatever you want to. However, if you stop losing weight or begin to gain, don't blame the Atkins plan or LCing for "not working". If we don't follow the plan, we're NOT doing Atkins.

Induction is ONLY 2 weeks out of your life. This may be your best chance to lose the weight you want to. Is it worth while to follow the plan exactly if that's the payoff? Dr. Atkins had over 35 years of experience with patients in his practice and all that went into the last editions of his book. If adding fruit right away was OK, it would probably be in the book. Or if skipping the veggies was just fine, that would be in the book. (Some people seem to think that they can skip the veggies and eat 20 carbs of sugar free candy. And then they wonder why they're not losing.)

Veggies have fibre, phytonutrients and other good things that help with the losing. They should always be part of the basic eating. The fruit is the increase in carbs that occurs in the Ongoing Weight Loss phase (OWL).

If you want to try another plan like PPP, the fruit is allowed earlier.

Did you know that 4 fluid ounce of orange juice has 3 TEASPOONS of SUGAR in it? So a US quart (32 ounces) has 24 TEASPOONS of SUGAR? Still want to drink it? (Imperial quart = 40 ounces has 40 teaspoons of sugar)

Hope this helps and that you are VERY successful in your losing.
