Default Would you take a statin if...

Would you take that statin if you knew that it reduced your chance of having a heart attack from .2% to .06%?

How about if you found out of 1,250 - 5,000 people treated with statins, it only benefited one?

I was put on statins and considering I have a lot of arthritic pain anyway I found I was soo much worse until I saw a documentary on TV which covered this very subject. Many people said that they had experienced a lot of joint pain whilst taking statins and one man in particular had become very disabled through the result of it.
Needless to say that I stopped taking them immediately!

All I can say is that you couldnt pay me enough to make me take them. IMO, they're one of the biggest cons of the 20th century!

Nope. I wouldn't take it if they said it reduced my chances of having a heart attack by 50%. I have had so many negative experiences with physicians and drugs that I have decided that *I* am in charge of my health. If I break my arm, I will go to the hospital. If something is going on, I will go to the doctor to get a diagnosis, but I will do my own research on treatment options.

I once had a severe rash on my back, and the doctor told me I had a staph infection. Two weeks of drugs that made me very sick later and no improvement, I went to a different doctor. He took a look at my back and then at my prescription and said, and I quote, "Who the h*ll put you on this drug?! Stop taking it immediately and go get some sun on your back." I did get some sun and within 3 days the rash was gone. This is only one of many stories I have like that.
