Default Vegetable Juice Question

In Dr. Schwarzbein's new book, there is a short note regarding vegetable juices saying individual's with insulin resistance should avoid them - even those without added sugar. I have not located a more thorough explanation (I sure wish she indexed her books!)

Update: I'm back on Schwarzbein after some good results a year ago. Since slipping back to some unhealthy eating, I have been experiencing elevated blood sugar. I am not classified as diabetic, but almost certainly have what is called the "metabolic syndrome." Insulin resistance is part of that condition.

Despite my personal struggles, I have kept my weight down & continued to exercise moderately. Schwazbein's new book is excellent. Her approach is balanced, rational, and moderate. Her understanding of human behavior really sets her apart.

welcome back Gary. I have traveled to that location ...slipping back to some unhealthy eating ... myself and strangely gained some weight back I like the new bk. also, but wish it were indexed. It seems as though there is something in it about how to drink juices and water them down (does not appeal to me) I would just as soon use my carbs to eat the whole fruit. I know that about all juices, even the pure ones give a real concentrated blow to insulin, and generallly it is best to consume the fruit or vegetable in it's whole form to have the fiber along with it.

Wasn't there something in the new bk about limiting juice to about 3 servings per week. I am not close to the bk. now but am going to try to find that this evening.
