Default Here in 2004, 2012 and now 2016. Again with all of it to lose.

I'm back, now in my early fifties. Eating LC is so much easier now, losing weight isn't.
I started induction on the 3rd of Sept. and haven't lost a pound. Not even the water weight. I know I'm doing it right I also know my body is being resistant.
I will be patient. I have no other choice but to be.
But if anyone knows how to kind of give me a kick start I'd love any suggestions. As long as they're healthy

Hi, bcbeauty. Welcome back!

This is also my 4th time eating LC, having lost well, but then quitting and regaining each time. I'm 63 now and I have found that intermittent fasting is helpful in keeping up the weight loss. Have you tried any IF?

Best of luck!

^^

Welcome back!
You could have a number of reasons for this-

1. are you going through menopause? this can make weight loss much more difficult/slower.

2. are you eating same amounts as when you did low carb but were 12 years younger? Your energy needs decrease with age.

3. can you post a sample menu for a couple of days? maybe you are something that can be a staller for some people.

4. you might heard of the golden shot theory- that after does low carb, goes off, gains weight, returns- the person will never as quickly as the first time.
From what i have seen, this seems to some folks, but not all.....

also, keep a food journal!!!! it is such an enlightening tool to keep you focused, honest, and avoiding carb creep.

good luck!

Hi Suzy. I have no idea what or how to intermitten fast. I'd love to hear more!
Hi Nancy...
Hi Robin
1. Yes I think I may be in menopause, however, aside from weight gain and the rare hot flash, I really don't know. I had a hysterectomy at 40.
2. I probably don't eat quite as much as I used to.. but I still think its a lot.
3. My meals are in my journal and my fit day. I've done this before
I'm being patient. I know I'm in this for the long haul
I already feel intestinally like a million dollars. Makes one wonder why we stop.

Dr Jason Fung wrote an excellent book about it, but here is a link to some FAQ about it on dietdoctor.com and you should be able to pull up some of his videos from here, too.

Welcome back Are you taking hormones having had a hysterectomy? Any other medications ? List of drugs that can interfere: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=453311

Foods look OK but I would suggest dropping the Atkins bars https://www.dietdoctor.com/atkins-g...ry-tale-cookies and count total carbs to start. Try an Atkins 72 type induction plan at 20g total carbs. Dr Eades had a good article about the second time around, ... We remember what we ate at the end of the diet, not how we started induction.
https://proteinpower.com/drmike/201...w-carb-dieters/
Also, you might want to check the ingredient list in those pepperoni sticks. I avoid highly processed foods due to some of those mystery additives often based on wheat and sugar.

Hi Janet,
Wednesday was my last bar I count my carbs and fat on Fit day and I never count net carbs. I never have.
I have, however, cut my coffee this morning to one cup as I also loooove my coffee but take it with cream.

I had a partial hysterectomy. So my ovaries are intact. No meds like that.
I do take medications for asthma but only periodically have to take something with a steroid so I'm good there too. My doctor says my other meds should have no bearing on weight loss.

Hi BCBeauty; just keep doing what you're doing. I think most of us have found the 2nd, third or fourth time we do LCHF, our bodies are more resistant. But if you keep at it, your weight will budget. You're showing your body who's boss right now. Eventually, you will win!

Medications? Thyroid? Perhaps you're just eating too many calories. They seem to matter for some of us.

Did you have your vitamin D and iodine levels checked? that's something that slowed me down big time. Very low on D and iodine. The thyroid needs them and without it, your metabolic speed is low, low slow.

What amounts of protein and fat are you having? Too much protein and fat slows me down as well as too much carb. I'm 5'2 and 64 with minimal exercise.

It seems to me that your body is saying, either you're in equlibrium, or something is stuck in the metabolism.

Do you go to your doctor and ask him to do these kinds of tests?

I have been basically eating only two meals a day and no not too much protein. And not too high in calories either.
I have been doing BPC to up my fats.
