Smile 27 pounds since October

I weighed at the doctor's yesterday. I've lost 27 pounds since the end of October. He gave me ANOTHER lecture on how low-carb only works in the beginning. Of course, he told me that in the beginning, when I'd only lost five. Pretty soon, I'm going to lose enough to blow his theory. I was sort of at a stand still there for a couple of weeks, but then my weight loss kicked back in. The secret for me is just hanging in there.
I went out and bought two pair of jeans, because my others were so baggy. However, I'm still wearing my same shirts, even if they are baggy. I don't want to spend money on clothes this far from goal.

Oct 25 256 pounds
December 22 238 pounds
January 19 235 pounds
January 29 229 pounds
Goal 149 pounds

That's really wonderful! You're doing so well.

I wonder what rationalization your doctor will come up with at the next visit?

Default More on Doctor

The doctor assured me yesterday that my weight loss wasn't due to low carb, but it must be because I'm taking in less calories....I thought...hmmm...cream cheese, sour cream, low calorie? I think not.
I just bought the Good Calories, Bad Calories book. Haven't read very far, but it seems low carb has always worked, and doctors have never wanted to admit it, even back in the 1800's.

You are right M.D.'s are in denial. To lose weight on low fat you basically have to starve and as we know the opposite is true for low carb. Keep up the good fight! By the way, do you eat Atkins Bars? I haave been told by many to avoid them but I have managed to lose eating them. What has been your experience?

Congrats, Kathy, on your weight loss. You're doing a superb job at taking care of yourself---and I can't wait to hear about the doctor's facial expression when he sees you once you've reached your goal.

Keep up the good work!

Default Atkins Bars

No, I've never had Atkins Bars. We looked at them at the grocey store, but I couldn't get past the "total carbs" listed.
We eat meat and green veggies, eggs, cheese (in moderation). When I want a snack, I have one small piece now and then, of Garadelli Dark Chocolate (65% cacao), a low carb ice cream bar, or we eat pork skins. I try not to do a lot of snacking. I cook a lot of low carb recipes I found from Recipezaar or the tv show Blaine's Low Carb Kitchen, which is now in reruns here.
I'm bad about exercise, but I'm still pretty big. Maybe when I get some more off, I will feel like being more active. Right now, my main exercise is housework or keyboard typing. ha.

Yep it's just water loss from the glycogen loss - see you are one of those super glycogenated people with 6 pounds of glycogen to begin with with as opposed to the normal half pound that use mere mortals have.

Time to start looking for a new doc.

I've had several doctors tell me it was dangerous. The one I use now I don't tell him what I'm doing-last fall he told me my blood levels and blood pressure were so good I could just skip my next scheduled visit-sometimes what they don't know is ok. My thinking is -the woman with the experience is NEVER at the mercy of the man (Dr.) with the theory.
Well done and keep up the good lc work.

Kudos to you!!
