Hey everyone,

I recently went Paleo... Started properly a week ago and already lost a Kg but then today I had two yoghurts. I feel like I sabotaged myself... How will I get where I want if I keep doing that? It's hard.. Sometimes I have these cravings.. How do u all manage them?

Firstly, HUGE congrats on your first kg in just one week! That's fabulous.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Shake yourself off and move on and learn from the experience. A new way of eating can be difficult and cravings happen.

I'm not doing Paleo, but I know on my LC WOE, when I get hungry, I eat what's on the Acceptable foods list.

I also don't have anything in the house I can't eat (but I live alone so that's pretty easy). And I have strategies for any social situation that involves foods that are not on my WOE plan. Preplanning has been one of the keys to my successfully staying on plan.

Wishing you heartfelt success on your journey!

Onward and ↓ DOWNWARD!

Jo

Strict paleo is very hard. Don't beat yourself up over yogurt, especially if you went for the plain kind. It's not like you fell face down into a bag of potato chips or pizza. Many cravings can be avoided by eating something fatty instead. You may have wanted the sweetness of yogurt (even the plain kind breaks down into sugar). Sweet cravings can be headed-off by eating something salty or drinking a little pickle juice.

For me, just sourcing naturally raised and wild food and avoiding processing is hard enough, without also trying to live without butter and wine. Which is why I'm a paleo/primal-tweaker But you'll certainly be able to follow strict paleo eventually if you want it enough. Good luck.
