Default Moderation for once!

A friend and I had a long overdue "day of beauty" to celebrate both of our 60th birthdays. Manicure, pedicure, and lunch out. We went to one of my favorite restaurants where I always have ordered a big cheeseburger and onion rings. I managed to forgo the cheeseburger in favor of a plain steak, but we ordered the onion rings and she ate some of them and I ate half. For the first time, maybe EVER, I left 4 onion rings on the plate even though I really wanted to eat them. ( for both taste and also because I hate to waste food!) Almost brought them home but since I live alone, I knew that would just be postponing me eating them later on. Checked my keto sticks and I am still in ketosis, so I guess the fact that I had no other carbs during rhe day evened it out. Nice to know I can occasionally eat something with carbs and not feel too guilty.

Good for you. Every little step makes a difference.
I think we were brought up not to leave food on our plates and feel guilty when we do. It's a new habit we will have to learn.

Good for you. I sometimes steal a few of my DH's fries - a very few, like 3or 4 - when we are first served, and they are still hot. Once they've cooled down I don't find them so attractive. And a plain steak is always good (though better IMO with a pat of butter), but the cheeseburger wouldn't have been a bad idea without the bun. That's how I always order a burger now. I never was very fond of hamburger buns anyway. Yesterday someone asked me if I ever ordered a lettuce wrap instead of the bun, and I had to say no, just too messy; I'm quite happy with a knife and fork.

Now that I have been making my own low carb 90 second buns, I will be taking them with me when I go to places like Five Guys. They do lettuce wraps but my homemade bun will be perfect. I use them for breakfast sandwiches also. 4 net carbs for the whole bun, or slice it in 3 slices insteaf of 2 and it still makes a decent size bun with even fewer carbs.
