I am getting a new doctor, and a little worried about what he or she may say about me being on atkins.

What do you tell your doctors, and how do they react? Afraid the doctor will try to talk me out of it! Last doctor tried to slim me down using pills, xencial i think it was called. That sorta of crap doesnt work.
Any answers would be helpful

My doctor gave me the thumbs up to try Atkins when I first asked him about it many years ago. He was a D.O. though and fairly open-minded and I was in generally good health, other than my weight. A year later when I got my lab work done, he was amazed at how great my #'s were.

I think it is very important to be honest with your doctor about your eating habits. If there is a medical reason why you shouldn't do low carb, he can advise you. But outside of that, I say give it a try and let your lab work do the talking.

In case your new doctor is one of those dinosaurs whose ideas of the food choices of Atkins are all "no carb" why not take in a detailed list of a week's worth of menus to show that you are including vegetables and "fruits" like red peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes in your regime?
