What are good places to get fairly large containers of normal coconut oil reasonably? (I have some unrefined, cold-pressed stuff but don't want to use that for frying.)

I get my expeller-pressed CO fromWilderness Family Naturals by the 5-gallon bucket. I used to go through Tropical Traditions but WFN is a bit cheaper and the quality is just as good.

I saw someone on the boards gets their coconut oil at Walmart cuz it's cheap there. I will definitely check on my next trip--don't have a Walmart super store nearby--don't know if superstore status makes a difference.

Certainly, for what it is, coconut oil is way overpriced and the filipinos are very happy about how the money exchange rate works for them.

Hi! I started taking coconut oil yesterday.
Will keep you all posted on the progress.
Has any one ever broken out in a sweat after taking coconut oil? I did this morning. But, didn't have the same reaction when taking this afternoon's dose.
Have any of you had "Hot" flashes like this?
Has anyone had enhanced weight loss using coconut oil while doing LC/Atkins?

I think if you read over this thread someone has mentioned that reaction.

I have felt a lot of energy from it and yes you can feel warm.

You can also go into a 'healing crisis' in which you feel worse before you get better.

cheers

Some coconut oils taste nasty (Garden of Eatin' for instance). I found a fabulous one, but now I can't remember the name--oh, it was Nutiva brand--not at all rancid tasting.

Care to share about what goes into the healing crisis and how long it lasts? (I know YMMV)

Actually, not Garden of Eatin', but Garden of Life (smallish dark brown jar) is the rancid tasting one. Nutiva is outstanding in flavor, there are probably some others. Buy a small quantity and check instead of buying a lot and not liking it.

I liked Nutiva, too. Bought some off of ebay & didn't taste as good (RitzCoco).
Not really getting weight loss from this, but feel it is good for me & like the SF chocolates I make with it.

I'll share coz I do care.......healing crisis is when the body sometimes gets worse before it gets better. It detoxes quickly and the results are you feel like you have a flu.

Another name is yeast die off reaction which this post may help you with.

it took me nearly 2 months to feel human again but im glad i stuck it out.

I initially had lots of weird diarrhea-ish 'events' but cut way back on my usage and got out of it. Sorry to it bring up, but I suppose this piece of info might help a newbie on coconut oil.

SkinnyRay,
Did I make you self-conscious with your other avatar? Sorry if I did...
