Thumbs up

This was my first time at a forum dinner and it certainly was memorable: great people and scrumptious food.

Wanda, that Duck Confit was yummy. Karen, thanks for selecting the menu and the wine treat. That amuse bouche was delicious. (A scallop on a bed of spinach with peanut sauce, topped with julienned daikon radish, pickled ginger and black sesame seeds)

Anne, it looks like you'll be having some great weather for your Vancouver sight-seeing. Thanks for being the reason for us all to get together. (And for the chocolate gift) Safe trip home.

Cheers. Ruth

I'm not telling......

Had a great time and the food, of COURSE, was amazing!!! I have never had duck before and it was worth the wait. The filet mignon?? Like budda....ahhh, I'm going to salivate or a week just thinking about that meal! The company was great, huge laughs and lots of great info on new recipes and things to try

I didn't have room for dessert but I did have it when I got home - mmmm!

It was great to meet Anne - what a great person! It was nice to hear what a visitor thought of our fine city.

Nicole

Hi Nikkil:

Glad to hear you enjoyed the evening as well. Question: Could you explain whoosh fairies to me?

Cheers. Ruth

If get up in the morning and weigh yourself and the scale has dropped then the Whoosh Fairy has visited you. It's like the tooth fairy, I guess, but she took away pounds rather than teeth! It's an expression that's used all over the forum here and you'll see people say, "I hope you get a visit from the Whoosh Fairy" or "I had a whoosh this morning - 2 lbs!!", stuff like that.

I'm down 2 lbs, but I'm not calling it a whoosh because to me a whoosh is more than 1 lb one day, 1 lb another day... plus I just got back into LCing about 3 weeks ago so I'm still losing kind of consistently. To me, a whoosh more applies to somebody who hasn't seen a loss in awhile and then steps on the scale one day and there's FINALLY a loss

HTH,

Nicole

Default Pictures for Donald (and others)

Thanks Nicole for the whoosh explanation. It makes great sense to me now.

Here's a link to 26 pictures from our dinner. It's a bit cluncky to use. You have to click on each numbered image to see it and then go back to click on the next image. Please ask me for more instructions if it's not clear. (I had a nicer presentation but after many hours I still can't get it to work. I started to use Webshots (Thanks Anne for the reference) but I need more time to learn it.)

Karen, maybe you have a better way of posting the images.

Default Apology to Anne

Hi Anne:

I hope you enjoyed your final days in Vancouver and had a pleasant trip home.

I'm sorry that I didn't get a picture of you other than in the group shots. I was meaning to take a picture of you but I think I was distracted by the arrival of the Amuse Bouche and my need to devour it and forgot to come back to get your picture. Also, I forgot I was the photographer and was so busy enjoying the food I forgot to get shots of the filet and the scampi.

Ruth, the official, but easily distracted, photographer.

Thanks for posting the pix, Ruth! Looks like a fun group and the menu has left me slobbering on my keyboard. I think it was the pumpkin chesecake that pushed me over the top!

Hi Folks

It was wonderful meeting you all on Sunday. Thanks for the photos Ruth, some good ones there and a nice reminder. I'll get mine into webshots shortly.

The food was wonderful, thanks Karen and Wanda for that. Thanks Karen for the cook book, sugar twin and tinned pumpkin. No, I looked in our supermarket and we don't have it and others I spoke to on the tour had never heard of tinned pumpkin either. Hence my shocked expression.

Thanks for the lift Teresa and also the tour in your car. The aquabuses to Granville Island were cute - I imagined something larger!

Well I got home at 5 30 am your time today. It is approaching 8 pm here and will hit the sack shortly as I'm beginning to flag - 8 hours is quite a time difference.

Had a great Monday seeing the sites of Vancouver - really walked my feet off. The weather stayed fine until Midday when the rain arrived. Just wanted me to feel at home. There is an autumnal chill in the air here and there have been a few showers here. I've tomorrow to recover and then its back to work on Friday.

Thumbs up Photos of our low carb get together

Hi Folks

I can not believe that a whole week has gone by since I had dinner with you all.

I have created an album in Webshots with photos of all my low carb friends in so you can see the photos I took at the Fish House and also the others that I met along the way.

I am now back to normal and reality. The jet lag was an interesting experience, but seem to be over that now.

I had a wonderful holiday in Canada and hope to come back again soon.
