Default Eating most carbs for breakfast?????

I am new to the website but not to a low carb lifestyle. I have been diligent since the middle of June losing approximately 20 pounds. I have hit a stall for the past 3 weeks. My husband started his low carb eating a week a go and has lost 9 1/2 pounds. He tells me that his secret is to eat a large, healthy breakfast, skip lunch and then have strictly protein such as fish or chicken for dinner. He did this same method a couple of years ago and lost 50 pounds (and has not put it back on). What is your opinion on eating all carbs for breakfast?

I wouldn't recommend carbs for breakfast unless they are low enough to keep you in ketosis. If you do not do that, you will maintain a glucose metabolism and you will then rely on low carories (i.e. starving yourself) to lose weight.

Atkins recommends keeping around 20 grams per day in induction (best to evenly space them through your 3 to 5 small meals) to keep cravings and hunger to a minimum.

When I did induction, I followed the book - lost 10 lbs the first week, 10 more the second. Now there is a motivator. Then I added a few carbs to slow it down and I would eat 1/4 grapefruit as my carbs for the breakfast.

In my opinion, a large, healthy breakfast is one with 0 to less than 5 carbs.

I suggest rereading the Atkins book for the best advice. It really works. He also explains what happens when you stall and gives ideas on how to break out of it.

Keep to it.

Welcome! Your husband's true key to success is the fact he's male. He may think eating all his carbs first thing in the morning is what's doing it, but trust me, it isn't. Overall it is way better on the body to try to keep your carbs as even throughout the day as you can in order to keep blood sugar stable.

Congratulations on your 20 pound success! All the best to you through your journey!
