Default Has anyone looked into medical marijuana?

EDIT: There's something about typing out my thoughts that somehow gives me ideas I didn't have before. It occurred to me a new way to search the Alzheimer's Association's message board. I will confess I didn't expect any success in a mainstream resource that doesn't even acknowledge the benefits of coconut oil, but there it is. I'll let you all know what the upshot is.

OP:
I have no idea if this is the right forum for this question. My mom has Alzheimer's Disease, as many of you have probably read from me already. She is doing just okay with the interventions we are performing; keto diet, supplements from a serious doctor who does his own research and doesn't dismiss AD with an "Oh well, sucks to be you" defeatist attitude. But, the results are declining and I want to fight on.
There are a lot of videos and articles on the science of cannabis derivatives dissolving the amyloid plaques that are the cause of most Alzheimer's cases but what is missing is one single, lonely testimonial that it has helped anyone with AD or Parkinson's. You know how YouTube is. You have to wade through the testimonials from people for just about anything you can try from the alternative medicine field. For seizure disorders of all kinds, they are there. I looked for a forum that might have some and believe it or not there are very few. The one I found that was anywhere near serious was still overrun with pot heads and hucksters. They are in the process of upgrading their platform but for now, they just have a warning for us all to ignore the scammers selling stuff.
Would you spend a mere $36.00 on a bottle of oil for a month's dosages with no more track record than that?

Is this from some online seller, or RX from your mom's doc?

If it's from her doc, I'd spend it in a heartbeat. From someone online, hell, no.

You'd have no idea what you were getting, Ann. As it's not legal, at least in the US, to sell marijuana products over the internet, there is also no oversight for quality control of such products.

This is legal. That's why I'm looking for reviews.

Have you guys tried MCT oil or coconut oil for her? I'm thinking of that coconut oil case study:

I don't know about medical marijuana and AD, just pain management and no first hand experience.

If it's legal, I'd gamble the $36.

Legal: absolutely. $36 is nothing. It's not even dinner for one at a nice restaurant.

Yes we have. It's beneficial but not as much any more. I think Dr. Mary Newport's late husband, Steve is the most famous success and his results faded as well. I don't know that I've read that particular study but I will. Thanks for the link.

Mickey Sue, I hope this wasn't too curt or dismissive. I was trying to hurry up and post, as we were leaving for a fun day in Galveston. The reason it's legal is that it is from industrial hemp, as opposed to actual marijuana. No significant level of THC, which of course is the psychoactive component.

Nope, not too curt.

But if it is NOT from your doctor, my concerns stand. You really will not know what is in it, because the FDA rules governing "supplements" are so lax as to be non-existent.

I'm not a big fan of the medical establishment, as you can probably tell from my postings elsewhere. But pharmaceutical companies DO have to maintain a much higher standard for manufacturing their products.

Figures. You can get a lot of hemp oil for that. Doesn't sound like a good deal then.

Well, that's not the only attribute. The CBD level is enhanced.

I come down on both sides of this question but I am doing a good amount of due diligence. A lot of info is available if you know to check in to it and ask.

My concern is that the company has no real regulation. But it's not my mom, either...

Sounds like you are doing a lot of good research. Do share if you are inclined.
