Default True carb count in bars?

I recently found Quest protein bars. The carb count for the one I like (raspberry/white chocolate) is 23, but there are 17 grams of fiber -- so net 6 carbs. The problem is, I am out of ketosis for the past three days since eating them (one meal replaced per day). I am keeping to under 20 grams/day, as I am only on Day 23 of Atkins.
I also bought some Atkins bars, and there is great confusion because the carb count is also about 23 but showing NO fiber. The "net carbs" on the front of the box says "2". How can this be? 23 is not 2...
Should I avoid these bars as giving a false-low number of carbs?
The only other food I am eating is the usual eggs, cheese, meat -- and the diet was working perfectly until I started snacking on the bars.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help!

Dump the bars. I used to eat the Atkins bars & drink the Atkins drinks. But no matter what the label says, they are high carb.

Everyone is different, but in my experience you are safer to count the sugar alcohols as regular carbs. The current formulation that is being used in Atkins bars has the same impact on my body as eating a Snickers. The Quest bars on the other hand work well for me. I subtract fiber and the carb count works out fine.

Another good way to tell which bar might be better for you - check the ingredient list. Quest only uses a few things - mostly protein powder and fiber. Atkins bars have a huge long list of ingredients that I have to look up to figure out what they even are. A chemistry degree would help!

Good luck
