This thread is for the folks who did the '10 pounds by Christmas Challenge' and want to continue, as well as anyone else who wants to join us. We can do two pounds a week, and small goals will get us there.

Posting weight and goal is optional, but it keeps me on task. 196 today, 186 by Valentine's Day.
Gail

ok, since i failed to complete the last 10 pound challenge that I signed up for.. I'm going to try my hardest to do this one..

Ok... sadly to say, when I got on the scale this morning, I weighed 162.. I probably should change my ticker... But I'm praying that this is just from the holiday... So this is embarrassing.. but -

DEDIKAYTED......162......152

YAY! We're on our way. Don't worry about bumps in the road, Dedikayted, you will get there. Lots of water helped me out of a stall. Just one thought. It helps you metabolize better.

BankerMom, little one still doing OK?

Good Morning Everyone,

Boy I'm on 147lbs which would mean 137lbs by Valentine's Day.
It might be difficult for me to reach that weight because my goal weight here is 140lbs and I know once you become so close to goal your body tries to hold on to the weight, but this keep me going and on target.
Thank you Gail.

Hi BankerMom,
Happy to see you posting. Hope all is Well.

Hi Dedicate,
I don't stress out, you are doing great, you are back here giving it your best.
To me that is all that matters.

So here to a good one, enjoy your day.
Catch you later.
Warmest Regards,
Joy

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I feel better already.
I had the BEST thing happen to me this morning....see below

DEDIKAYTED....162.......158........152

that's right... 4 pounds from yesterday... This water weight thing is serious! I thought about changing my start weight to 158. I don't want to feel like I'm cheating on our challenge...But I actually I'm hoping to whoosh again!!! (not banking on it though) What ya think?

Wow, 4 lbs! I would just recheck your weight in a few days before you change your start weight. It's hard to tell which weight is the anamoly?

Things here are going well. I know several of you know that I am having a heart procedure done in January - January 18th to be exact. I am nervous, but excited. I can't remember who asked me what it is for on the previous thread? Well, I have had bouts of arrythmia since about the 4th grade and I'm almost 32 now. I have bouts of SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) and also have had some bouts of atrial fibrillation. They are going to do an EP study and ablation. They basically run catheters into my heart and study the electrical conduction to find pathways that shouldn't be there and then they zap them dead with a radio frequency (ablation) to make the irregular pathways stop causing the arrythmia. There are risks, but there are risks with letting this go on, too. I'm excited that I might be able to finally get off the beta blocker that I take that makes me feel slowww and doesn't always work.

My daughter is doing great since her bout with RSV and brief hospital stay earlier this month. Thanks for asking! The wonderful thing about little ones is that although they get sick fast, they also usually heal fast! Thank God!

Yes, I'll be sure to check again soon... (probably tomorrow or Saturday). I'll stick with 162 as my start since that is definitely what I was in the just 2 days ago. Plus, I really want to see 152 soon. I should have been there!

Our ranks are growing. Welcome Emily.

Dedicated, go for it. I know you'll make good progress. There's no crime in surpassing 10 pounds! Joy, you're so close -- losing 5 for you is like many people's 10 or 15. I hope you are in maintenance so when you get there, you can keep it off long-term.

BankerMom, it was me who asked. My husband went into the hospital on Oct. 1 with severe atrial fibrillation (his heart was beating 180/min). After four days in the hospital on blood thinners and tests, they couldn't reverse it. They medicated him and cardioverted him -- nothing. He's worked in the food industry most of his adult life -- he has worked two partial days since then -- he gets too dizzy and has to go home. He's filed for ss disability. Jan. 4 he's going in to see another cardiologist -- his first one gave up after the cardioversion failed. Told him to take his meds to slow down his heart and live with it. I'm hoping that this specialist will suggest something like catheter ablation. Right now, at 46, he's too young to give up. Best thing is, it's made him serious about getting healthy. He's dropped 50 pounds since he left the hospital.

Gail

Gail, I am sorry to read about your husband. My episodes usually are between 160-220 beats per minute - and that lasts anywhere between 5 minutes and 4 to 5 hours (and in the latter I end up in the ER to be converted). I can't imagine it going on for MONTHS like in your husband's case. Afib is especially concerning because it makes you more susceptable to clots (possibly leading to stroke or heart attack). He needs to not only see a cardiologist, but see a heart rhythm specialist, called an Electrophysiologist (sp?) EP doc for short. They are cardiologists that specifically deal with this kind of stuff. I bet they'll end up wanting to perform this same procedure I'm having. I will keep your husband in prayer!

Good Morning Everyone,
My computer is giving some trouble. I posted here eariler but it got lost somewhere.
Hi BankerMom, I am happy that your daughter is better.
My prayers are with you and Gail. I wish for you and Gail's husband good health. I am happy that you both found each other here. It seem that you were ment to post so that Gail could find more information, and in so doing find the help that is required for her husband.
Warm Blessing to you both.
My TOM is here and so I am having a day in Bed, as much as a Mom can be in bed. It has me really under the weather.
Well that all for now.
Hope everyone is doing well. Stay Reading and Posting.
Warmest Regards
Joy

DH went to urgent care on 10/1 because he thought he had a hernia, which he does, a minor umbilical hernia. But when they were taking his vitals, the doctor heard something odd, and hooked him to the EKG. They took him right to the ER. His initial heart rate was 165, which was at 180 by the time they admitted him. They've gotten his heart rate slowed down quite a bit, but we're still worried about the A-fib. His doctor is so laid back "Oh, I have patients that live with this, and they are golfing every day, and going to Europe." Great, but they're 70 and retired. Not 46 and not able to work. That's why we're seeing another cardiologist on 1/4. He's with the AZ Heart Institute, for his initial assessment. They have dozens of cardiologists on staff, and I'm sure he's going to end up working with a heart rhythm specialist. It can't come soon enough for me!

Hi everyone. Mind if I join in? I am 156 as of this morning, so that would be 146 by Valentines Day, which I know I can do, especially since a lot of this weight is merely water hanging on from Christmas.

Hi ladies, is it ok if I join? I've never done a lose 10 pounds challenge but I'm hoping it will get me motivated enough to finally get rid of these 10 pounds! I'm 160 right now and hopefully will be 150 by Vday. Well have a great new year everyone!
