Smile Newbie and I have PCOS

Hi ~

My name is Kimberly and I am 28 years old. My husband and I have been tc for about 5 years now. I have had 3 pregnancies. Two of which were miscarriages and the last one was an Ectopic pregnancy. Since that time we have not been able to concieve. Before I was diagnosed with PCOS I was skipping periods, gaining a large amount of weight, and getting DARK facial hair (I had facial hair before, runs in the family). I was exercising at the time and of course not watching what I ate. I really did not eat. And if I did it would be junk food or Starbucks. Oh, I really love Starbucks!

Well I saw a specialist when dh and I continued not to concieve and my OB/GYN referred me. They ran some tests and confirmed that I had PCOS. This was the first time that I had heard of it. My doctor told me to continue to exercise and eat right and take Glucophage. I took it for a month and continued with my normal lifestyle. I found that I had to take Gluchophage with a lot of milk since it casused an acid reflux type reaction. I eventually took myself off the medicine, since I am person who generally hates medicine and can not remember to take it. I did not go back to the specialist after that. My insurance declined to cover the specialist and soon after I quit that job and have been on Military insuracne since my dh is in the Army.

Anyways, as of last years I ballooned up to 306 and decided that I need to make a change. I started LC'ing about 3 1/2 months ago and have gone from 306 to 275. I was at 271...but somehow gained the weight back.

I am glad to have found this forum to give me support and suggestions as to what to do. I have not, like I said before, seen a doctor in about a year in half. I plan to go back when I move to Ft. Hood, TX in november. Right now I am doing the Atkins, excercising for 45 minutes everyday and drinking my water......welll maybe not drinking my water. I started today with a goal to drink a gallon a day. I have done real well so far.... today.

Well that is my story in a nutshell.. I hope to get to know everyone better

Kimberly

The best way to figure out why the weight gain is to really check what you are eating and be sure you haven't added extra carbs in without realizing it. That can happen, next take measurements, if the weight gain is by chance muscle you will see it there, and the scale go up slightly. Third it could be the summer heat, I tend to retain more fluid in the summer and that could be a possibility. Check your diet first, to see that you are eating to program, I'm not an expert on atkins but that is what I would check out first.
